Working together, we can build a bridge between hiring and education to help employers find the right talent for their organizations and teach our students the skills employers are looking for at the College of DuPage. College of DuPage is working with business leaders to develop strategies to close the gap and ensure our local workforce is prepared to perform. Apprenticeship programs provide hands-on training to an employee while gaining necessary competency. They offer skills in a particular occupation, help connect to a career pathway, and combine on-the-job training with appropriate instruction. It is commonly referred to as an “Earn and Learn” model. Gradually the apprentice acquires new proficiencies, builds workplace skills, and reaches set milestones.

Starting the week off right with #NationalCandyDay!🍬 Illinois is home to many iconic chocolate and candy manufacturers, making this hashtag holiday even sweeter! Chicago has proudly held the title of the “candy capital of the world” since the late 1800s, with Tootsie Rolls, Brach's, Frango, Wrigley Gum, Fannie May, and Mars Candy all having deep roots here. Recently, Ferrero cut the ribbon on a new chocolate factory in Bloomington, where they’ll be producing popular treats like Kinder Bueno, Crunch, 100 GRAND, Raisinets, Baby Ruth, and Butterfinger. In Rockford, General Mills makes the beloved Fruit by the Foot, while Ferrara’s Nerds Gummy Clusters are taking candy aisles by storm. Mars Wrigley, a division of MARS- Global, produces millions of Skittles daily at their Yorkville facility. You'll also see World's Finest® Chocolate bars sold for many school fundraisers, and down in Robinson, the HERSHEY'S plant is known for producing Heath Bars, Milk Duds, Whoppers, Reese’s Pieces, Payday, Zero Bars, Skor, Scharffen Berger, and Brookside Chocolate.
