Today, the government passed a Continuing Resolution to fund critical federal programs through March 2025. While we at JFF are relieved that a major government shutdown was averted, we are disappointed that the "A Stronger Workforce for America" Act—the long-overdue reauthorization of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA)—was excluded from the final package. JFF remains steadfast in our mission to advance education and workforce policy reforms aligned with our North Star. We worked with Congress to shape this bipartisan bill, which includes essential provisions to modernize and strengthen America’s public workforce system with a sharper focus on skills and innovation. Its exclusion represents a significant missed opportunity to address the urgent needs of employers and workers alike. At a time of heightened economic disruption, reforms like these are critical to equip workers with the skills required to thrive in a changing job market and rebuild trust in our nation’s workforce development system. We call on the new Congress to make WIOA reauthorization an immediate priority in 2025. 🔑 For the Trump administration to successfully center #apprenticeships in their #workforce strategy, they must improve and expand our current workforce development system to ensure learners and workers face #NoDeadEnds on the road to opportunity.
