Its time to prioritize our own self-care and well-being, with a dash of humor! "You can't pour from an empty cup! Unless... you're a magician, and even then, it's just a trick! But seriously, folks! If you're running on fumes, depleted, and exhausted, how can you possibly expect to show up for others? It's like trying to serve coffee from an empty coffee pot. You can pretend all you want, but at the end of the day, there's just no coffee So, take a step back, refill your cup, and prioritize your own self-care. Whether it's a nap, a massage, or a Netflix binge-fest, do what you need to do to replenish those reserves! Remember, you can't pour from an empty cup... unless you're a magician, of course! #SelfCare #PrioritizeYou #EmptyCup #MagicTricksNotIncluded"

Are we putting band-aid on a wound that needs stitches? I am talking about how as Dads (and Moms), we use Netflix/Alcohol to cope with stress. I kept putting band-aid after band-aid for years too. I used to: - scroll social media - sacrifice sleep for Netflix - drink alcohol 1-2x weekly - assume about people's words or intentions Then I made these 4 changes that helped me beat stress 👇🏾 Now I: - go for walks in the park - read a book at bedtime - lift weights 4x weekly - take words at face value (no assumptions) The changes didn't happen overnight. But I do most of these on autopilot now. Don't know where to start? Start by fixing your environment. - your home - your phone - your friends - your boundaries Stress kills slowly. Band-aids won't save your life.

Friday nights are a highlight for my kids and me – it's Chick-fil-A Friday coupled with movie night. While it typically makes for a longer day and a later bedtime for the kids, it doesn't typically cause any major sleep disturbances for them. 🐔 🎬 This past Friday started off like any other. I picked up my kids from daycare, and we excitedly headed to Chick-fil-A. They were their usual bubbly selves, eagerly anticipating their meals. 😀 As we sat down to eat, I noticed something off about my daughter. Despite her initial excitement, she seemed unusually tired. One moment she was under the table, the next she was resting on her brother's lap, and then leaning over the booth. Her food remained untouched, and when I asked her about her day, she struggled to maintain focus. It took multiple attempts to get her attention. 🙃 Thankfully, we managed to leave without any major incidents, but it was clear she was exhausted. 🙏 Once home, she constantly sought comfort and asked to be held throughout our usual Friday night routine. Despite initially appearing energetic during the movie, her mood quickly fluctuated from sweet to sour at the drop of a hat. Bedtime became a battleground as she fought sleep intensely, clearly overtired. 😊 😠 😭 After some tossing and turning she eventually drifted off to sleep. 😴 Recognizing the signs of sleep deprivation in her that night was crucial. Sometimes, as parents, we must ponder whether certain activities are worth the potential consequences. It's a delicate balance of learning as we go and making the best decisions we can in the moment. ❤️ To help you navigate similar situations in the future, here are some signs of sleep deprivation to watch out for. 💡 #movienight #chickfila #fridaynight #sleepdeprivation #toddler #infants #consequences #learningjourney #parentinginsights #moodswings #sleepconsultant

There are lots of posts (mine included🤣) about how even more busy & stressful Conveyancing is at the moment. Lots are working earlier and/or later than usual, logging on during days off, working lunch breaks etc. However, I just want to remind you all to make sure you are taking care of yourselves please. You are no use to your clients or colleagues if you are reaching your limits and approaching burn out. The Christmas break is almost here, which is always a great time for us to truly switch off with other firms also being closed. That being said, remember that you are also of no use to your loved ones if come break time, you are too burnt out to function and end up unwell from not looking after yourselves. Make sure you take time away from your desks to give your eyes & brain a break. Keep hydrated & make sure you are eating. Most of all, if you can, do something FOR YOU whether that be every day, or a few days over the next few weeks. For me, the gym is my outlet and has been for years and is a huge stress reliever but your ‘time out’ could be anything. Some examples - colouring, painting, a face mask, watching your favourite film, baking, listening to a podcast. #conveyancing #lifeofaconveyancer #selfcare #mentalhealth #wellbeing

⏲️ Just a friendly reminder that this weekend, we’ll be falling back an hour! As we prepare for the time change, here are some tips to help your kids adjust: ✔️Start by gradually shifting their bedtime earlier in the days leading up to the change. Keeping a consistent bedtime and morning routine will provide a sense of stability. ✔️Talk to your kids about the time change—explaining why it happens can help them understand and adjust. ✔️Encouraging some outdoor play in the morning can also help reset their internal clocks with natural light. #TimeChange #FallBack #FamilyTips #Fall #ClocksChange #BePrepared

#Fridayfun When you work in a fast-paced industry, doing deeply meaningful work to build connection & trust, getting burned out is a real concern. 😕 I love being an Ombuds but it can be draining at times. I had to develop techniques and rituals to protect my energy and wellbeing. You probably already know I love forest bathing. ( Google it) and grounding myself by walking barefoot in the grass. What you don’t know is I’m an avid bath person. 🛀 ! Nothing like climbing into a hot bath and feeling the tension melt away. Except… 20x the enjoyment by using Flewd Stresscare bath soaks. They are the best! Specifically designed to give me body the minerals and nutrients to calm my nervous system, banish aches and make me sigh with happiness. With my subscription I get a bundle of soaks that alleviate anxiety, sadness, muscle aches and insomnia, but you can mix it up. I adore the fragrance which lingers so it’s like I get a second dose of zen. WARNING don’t use during the day unless you want to nap. 💤 All the soaks put me to sleep in 15 minutes. My DSO friends, I’m excited to share this with you and hope you get as much joy as I do or more! #DSO #selfcare

I can personally say that the #spoontheory works. Whether you have a disability or not, we all have so many spoons to use per day and every activity whether it's taking the kids to school, going to an appointment and even simple things like cooking tea, taking a shower and even getting out of bed all take a certain amount of spoons. The amount of spoons you have will depend on many factors including The day before, your pain levels, your stress levels and even whether you sleep well. For more tips hit the follow button
