New sustainable packaging research. Reloop's latest study delves into the environmental impact of reusable vs. single-use takeaway packaging across Europe. Perfect example of a biased study designed solely to manipulate public opinion in favor of Takeaway packaging reuse Whether it is better or worse for the environment and human health is irrelevant; what matters is selling machines for return and deposit systems. TOMRA commissioned the study. Eunomia Research & Consulting's credibility is once again at an all-time low. A simple example is the case of bowls. They compare between 👉 A single-use Kraft paper bowl with a volume of 909 ml and a weight of 20.8 g 👉 A single-use PP bowl with a volume of 750 ml and a weight of 42 g 👉 A reusable PP bowl with a volume of 1250 ml and a weight of 182.6 g This is not serious. If a proper comparison is intended, a single volume and specific technical specifications (such as rigidity, mechanical resistance, etc.) should be defined. In the case of reusable products, also the number of reuse times. Based on this, the bowls would be manufactured from different materials with efficiency criteria in mind, meaning the use of the least amount of raw material possible. From there, we would determine the weight of each bowl, and it would be the appropriate time to conduct a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA).
