Fifteen months ago, Eric Taipale and I realized that we had a massive opportunity in our hands with the precision weed detection technology we had been developing over the past six years alongside key industry partners. Our in-row weed identification technology had reached a level of performance that swung open a door to make precision application of post emergence herbicide more accessible and scalable for growers, retailers, and custom applicators. We also knew that we needed help. We were introduced to industry veterans Michael Stern, Anthony Osborne, and Hobart Beeghly who quickly realized the potential of this technology for value creation/capture across the entire agriculture value chain, and especially for growers. Since that moment, the learnings and progress on the positioning of the technology and our commercial partner development has accelerated at what feels like light speed. Our lesson learned is that, along with the technology being differentiated and proven as advertised, deep industry experience, understanding, credibility, and relationships in agriculture are just as important when bringing new solutions to market. This has led us to an opportunity to now add Joe Walsh to our team; and we couldn’t be more excited about the impact that he will have for Sentera, our partners, and for growers. “Sentera team, prepare ship for ludicrous speed!”

Participants also gained valuable insights into cost-efficiency, farmer loyalty and digitisation as crucial factors for success. Lever VC has made its first investment from Fund II into HerdDogg, Inc.'s Series A4 round. Herddogg, a smart ear tag company, uses advanced data analytics to monitor cows' internal body temperature, movement, and acceleration, enabling early disease detection and significantly reducing on-farm mortality. By lowering mortality rates, Herddogg's technology can reduce the number of cows in the beef and dairy supply chain, thus cutting methane emissions. Herddogg closed its $6M round last week and has doubled the number of ear tags deployed across the US and Australia in the past two months, enhancing sustainability and traceability in the industry.
