Paul Hodkinson reports: The Global 200 ranking of the world's largest law firms by revenue demonstrates how this shift is taking place. Some firms' growth stories are well documented: Kirkland & Ellis' revenue has shot up 73% over the four-year period since the 2019-20 financial year, while its average PEP has risen 53%. But others have been quietly rising in the ranks at a phenomenal rate. China's Yingke, the world's largest firm by head count, and U.S.-based Willkie Farr & Gallagher and Holland & Knight are among the firms that have progressed up the Global 100 the fastest since 2019-20. All three have revenue growth rates that match Kirkland's. Yingke has risen 22 places to reach No. 47 in the rankings, while Willkie has gone up 21 places and Holland & Knight 16. All three are now in the Global Top 50. Other strong performers in that bracket are Ropes & Gray, McDermott Will & Emery, Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan and Milbank—all of whom have risen eight places or more, with a revenue growth rate of 42% or more since 2019-20.
