You can use company targeting to build audience segments based on lists of companies and organizations, so you can tailor your advertising campaigns to target priority companies, organizations, and schools. Company lists are a part of LinkedIn’s Matched Audiences.
Here's a tip
When uploading your company lists, they need to adhere to LinkedIn's formatting guidelines or the upload won’t be successful. For the most up-to-date format, download the CSV template provided in Campaign Manager.
Requirements to match your company list to LinkedIn Pages
To match your company list to LinkedIn Pages, we require at least one of the following:
- Company name
- Company website
- Company email domain
- LinkedIn Company Page URL
- Stock symbol
Requirements when populating your template
When populating your template, keep in mind:
- Don’t change or remove the headers. When populating a template, add your own list below the headers provided. Changing or removing template headers will cause an error when you upload your audience.
- Your uploaded list must have at least 300 rows for a successful upload.
- Your list must match a minimum of 300 members to be used in an active campaign.
- The maximum list size is 20 MB or 300,000 companies (company list) or records (contact list).
- It might take up to 48 hours (on rare occasions, longer) to generate your audience.
- The template has options for several types of information to help build your audience, but you can keep any field blank where you might not have information. However, keep in mind that providing more information will improve match rates, since we use data from LinkedIn Pages to match companies based on the information provided in the template.
- We support CSV file uploads and information received from third-party API partners.
Tips for your company targeting list
A few tips for your company targeting list:
- The recommended list size for company targeting is 1,000 or more companies, organizations, or schools.
- You can view engagement and other metrics with companies from both an uploaded list and organic engagement using Companies in Campaign Manager. To find Companies, click Plan, then Companies on the left menu.
To increase the accuracy of the match we recommend:
- Providing additional fields such as industry, city, state, company country, or zip code.
- Including the LinkedIn Page URL for companies in your template. The LinkedIn Page URL will look like the following: https://www.linkedin.com/company/linkedin/. For best match results, the Page URL should include the company name at the end of the URL, not a number ID.
- Include the company website or LinkedIn company Page URL for each row.
