LinkedIn Conversion Tracking gathers insights into conversions of your LinkedIn Ads campaigns, giving you the ability to measure the impact of your ads.
Here's a tip
There are multiple reasons why metrics between your platform and LinkedIn may vary.
Conversion status tells you if your conversion is active, if it's been inactive for a period of time, or if it's unverified.
For Insight Tag conversions - When a new conversion is created, our system will wait for an associated domain or URL to load (be visited) to check if the LinkedIn Insight Tag has been placed correctly. Check the conversion status to make sure we’ve received signal.
For Conversions API conversions - The time it takes for the conversion status to update depends on the type of conversion. Check the status based on the typical frequency of the conversion event.
The statuses you'll see in Campaign Manager:
Status | Last signal received |
---|---|
Active (green) | In the last three days |
No recent activity (gray) | Between four and seven days |
Inactive (red) | More than seven days |
Unverified (red) | For Insight Tag: No activity detected from your website For Conversions API: Waiting on data from your integration |
For CSV conversions - After you set up your CSV conversion in Campaign Manager, your status will appear as Active. Keep in mind, CSV conversions are limited to 90 days. If you upload a conversion with a date older than 90 days, the conversion won’t be processed.

If you have an Insight Tag on your website for conversion tracking, that same tag will also allow you to easily get started with website retargeting.
The post-view conversion rate is the percentage of times that a conversion was fired after the user viewed an ad and then visited your website later. For example, sometimes a user will view your ad, visit your website later, and then convert even though this user might not have clicked the ad. Using the tag, LinkedIn will attribute these types of conversions to your campaign if the user converts up to 30 days after the ad impression. We support both post-click and post-view conversion tracking at the ad level.
Here's a tip
We generally measure conversions for each LinkedIn member account that takes an action on your ad. However, to protect member privacy, we don’t always measure conversions at the individual member level.
To capture as many conversions as possible, some conversions may be measured using predictive AI models or on-device conversion tracking.
When creating a conversion in Campaign Manager, you can set a default value for your conversion rules on the Settings page. The conversion value field allows you to set a numerical value to your conversion to help you gain more insight and better measure and optimize the impact of your campaigns.
For Insight Tag, Conversions API, or CSV-upload conversions, you can send a dynamic value either through API or upload, which will override the default value. Keep in mind, currently only the advertiser currency is supported.
