On-device conversion tracking for LinkedIn Ads

Last updated: 9 months ago

To capture the most conversions possible, we use multiple methods to track conversions for your LinkedIn ads.

To protect member privacy, we limit our processing of third-party member data. One way that we protect user privacy when tracking third-party conversions is by measuring on-device conversions.

On-device conversion tracking helps us track ad engagement and conversions without sharing individual member-level third party data back to LinkedIn. With on-device conversions, we use client-side processing to process the attribution directly on the member’s mobile device.

We then send anonymized conversion data back to our platform for server-side processing. We combine on-device with any other conversions, including directly observable conversions and conversions estimated with predictive modeling.

On-device conversions are included in your ad campaign reporting, and are provided in the same dimensions and metrics as other conversions.

Important to know

Conversion reporting may take up to three days to reflect actual numbers due to iOS device server delays.

The following illustrates a current example of on-device attribution:

  • Member is served an ad in the LinkedIn app on an iOS device.

  • Member clicks on the ad and goes to a website to convert.

  • Member uses an in-app Safari web browser to convert on the same device.

  • Anonymized data is sent back to our servers.
