Create single image ads for Classic campaigns in Campaign Manager

Single image ads are a type of Sponsored Content that displays in the LinkedIn feed of members in a targeted audience. You can create single image ads directly in Campaign Manager or select posts from your LinkedIn Page to sponsor.  

Sponsored Content created directly in Campaign Manager is called Direct Sponsored Content and doesn’t appear on your Page as a post. Direct Sponsored Content allows you to personalize, test, and improve the performance of your content for a targeted audience without cluttering your Page.  

Who can use this feature?

You must have super admin, content admin, or Sponsored Content poster access on your ad account's Page and creative manager access or higher on your ad account to create a single image ad.

Before creating a single image ad, create a new Classic campaign and select brand awareness, website visits, engagement, website conversions, lead generation, or job applicants as the objective. You can also create new ads for an existing single image ad campaign by editing your campaign

To add a single image ad to your Classic campaign, you can either create a new ad or browse existing content to select from your Page’s posts and previously created ads.   

Create a new ad

To create a new single image ad:

  1. Go to the Ads in this campaign page in Campaign Manager.  

    • New campaign - If you're creating a new campaign, you'll go to the Ads in this campaign page after selecting your campaign settings. 
    • Existing campaign - To add an ad to an existing campaign, you can edit the campaign to go to the Ads in this campaign page.  
  2. Click Create new ad(s)

  3. Enter a name for your ad. The name only appears in Campaign Manager. Complete the following sections. Their order might vary depending on the chosen objective.

  4. Add Introductory text.

    • Click draft with AI to generate up to five suggestions for your introductory text. Suggestions are created using insights from your LinkedIn Page and previous campaigns. 
  5. In the Destination section, depending on the chosen objective, you’ll see options to either select a Destination URL, Lead Gen Form, conversation asset with Lead Gen Form, or conversation asset. Conversation assets are only available for click-to-message ads using either the website visits or lead generation objectives with single image ads.

    • If website visits is your campaign objective, select either the Destination URL or Conversation checkbox.
      • For Destination URL, URLs must have the http:// or https:// prefix and you can use up to 2,000 characters. Click the Scrape button.
      • For Conversation, you can select an existing conversation or create a new one. You can only select a conversation that doesn’t have a Lead Gen Form associated.
    • If lead generation is your campaign objective, select either the Lead Gen Form or Conversation asset with lead gen form checkbox.
      • For Lead Gen Form, you can select an existing form or create a new one.
      • For Conversation asset with lead gen form, you can select an existing conversation or create a new one. You can only select a conversation that has a Lead Gen Form associated.
  6. In the Article share section, confirm or change the ad image, headline, description, and call-to-action button scraped from the URL. 

    • Ad image - You can change the image scraped with your destination URL by clicking the  Cancel icon to the right of the image name. Click the Upload or select button to browse from existing images in the media library or upload a new image. 
    • Headline - Click draft with AI to generate up to five headline suggestions. The headline appears below the image of the ad. 
    • Description - The latest versions of LinkedIn’s mobile and desktop rarely show link description text. 
    • Call-to-action - Click the dropdown menu to select which call-to-action button appears with your ad. 
  7. Click the Save ad button in the lower-right corner.  

    • Ensure the Add to campaign checkbox is selected to add your new ad to the current campaign. 

Browse existing content

To select ads from your Page posts or previously created single image ads: 

  1. Go to the Ads in this campaign page in Campaign Manager.  

    • New campaign - If you're creating a new campaign, you'll go to the Ads in this campaign page after selecting your campaign settings. 
    • Existing campaign - To add an ad to an existing campaign, you can edit the campaign to go to the Ads in this campaign page.  
  2. Click the Browse existing content button. 

  3. Select the checkboxes to the left of the ads you’d like to add to your campaign.

    • LinkedIn Page posts won’t be available to select as a single image ad if they contain a document or Pulse article link. 
    • You can remove ads from the library of existing content by selecting the ad and clicking the Remove from library button in the lower-right corner. 
  4. Click the Add to campaign button in the lower-right corner. 

  5. If you selected lead generation as your campaign objective, you’ll need to associate a Lead Gen Form with each ad in your campaign.

    • From the Ads in this Campaign page, click Associate an asset below the ad name and details. 
    • In the Destination section, select either Lead Gen Form or Conversation asset with lead gen form. You can select a previously created form or asset or create a new one. 
    • Click the Save button in the lower-right corner. 

After creating or selecting ads for your campaign, you can:

  • Duplicate, preview, edit, manage tracking, or remove an ad by clicking the More icon to the right of the ad.   
  • Choose your ad rotation options by clicking the Gear icon to the right of Ads in this campaign

When you’re ready, you can launch your new campaign or save changes to an existing campaign. Your ads will be reviewed and, if approved, are displayed based on your campaign settings. 

Here's a tip

Only Page super and content admins can disable, delete, or reply to comments as the Page on your single image ads.
