  • Jeff Shilling thought he would pursue full-time consulting work after he transitioned out of a full-time role in higher education advancement, but instead found an opportunity as an interim leader through WittKieffer. He found that he enjoyed a new way to use his expertise to help institutions. A good interim leader needs a few simple qualities, Shilling says: being comfortable in your own skin; humility; and curiosity. In this conversation with Lydia Ostermeier - Haynes, MSN, RN, Shilling looks back on his decision to get into interim work, how he has succeeded in interim roles, and what others can learn from his experiences.  Listen: https://lnkd.in/eNpD3yrK #interimleaders #higheredleadership #advancement

  • Amidst many external market fluctuations, the #CDMO industry must also contend with high turnover which has resulted in significant challenges for all leadership roles and leading to a dynamic talent pool and a constant, rapid recalibration of leadership profiles and competencies required for success. This constant flux not only underscores the competitive nature of the industry but also necessitates adaptability and agility from executives at all levels. CEOs in particular stand out as a prime example of this trend. When compared to their counterparts in S&P 500 companies and leading pharmaceutical firms, CEOs within the CDMO sector exhibit notably shorter tenures. In response, CDMOs must prioritize succession planning, leadership development, mentorship programs, and strategies to retain top talent. By investing in the growth and continuity of their leadership teams, CDMOs can build resilience, drive innovation, and navigate the complexities of the industry with confidence and agility. I visited and had a most inspiring meeting this afternoon with Prof. Philip Cotton , Vice-Chancellor University of Global Health Equity , a non-profit university of health sciences in Rwanda focused on training and provision of rural health care in Africa. • To thrive in the growing #medspa market, organizations and investors should build balanced leadership teams by combining different backgrounds and expertise. "They must ensure the leadership team can tackle key challenges, foster growth, and maintain a competitive market advantage, all while providing exceptional customer service, leveraging feedback, and investing in advanced technology with adequate development and training opportunities for team members," write Lisa Casper and Shannon Wallace in our new research report, "Navigating Talent Scarcity in the Growing Medspa Industry." They add: "By implementing strategic leadership solutions, focusing on talent acquisition from adjacent industries, utilizing executive assessments, and deploying interim and on-demand leaders, medspa businesses are well-positioned to navigate the talent scarcity challenge and achieve long-term success." • The direct-to-consumer healthcare market encompasses an array of medicine, digital therapeutics, primary and specialty providers, and innovative technologies. Examples include concierge medical services, medical spas, weight loss centers, mindfulness programs, sexual and sleep health services, luxury rehab facilities, clinically validated skincare and longevity services, and “food as medicine” programs. The industry is undergoing significant transformation as consumers take a more active and direct interest in their own health and wellness. This increased consumer demand is a significant factor at play in the recent increased interest from the investor market. In our recent report, Shelly Carolan and Lisa Casper explore the shift toward greater Direct-to-Consumer Healthcare options and its impact on leadership. "The success of this sector is driven by a unique blend of skillsets and experiences, requiring a leadership team that can navigate significant growth and expansion while maintaining a steadfast consumer focus and improving patient outcomes," they write. "As the industry continues to evolve and transform, it is imperative for investors and healthcare providers to meticulously select and develop their leadership teams, embracing the importance of consumer centricity, brand differentiation, and the lifetime value of customers." • A few years ago, New Hampshire's Crotched Mountain Foundation reimagined how it could better serve children with disabilities in the state. CEO Ned Olney and the organization knew they needed a bold vision, one that would have “impact at scale”. Today, Crotched Mountain continues to look for new and different ways of fulfilling its mission.   In this Impactful Leaders Podcast, Olney speaks with WittKieffer's John Fazekas about Crotched Mountain's renewed vision and what other nonprofits can learn from its emphasis on "contribution" rather than "attribution". Olney’s experience with Crotched Mountain is inspiring, which is apropos: “Take every single opportunity to inspire the people you serve,” he advises. “If you can’t inspire them, you’ll have a hard time leading.” Listen to their conversation: https://lnkd.in/gqrggYje #nonprofits #impactfulleaders #podcasts #newhampshire
