Like many institutions in higher education, Ohio University saw enrollment plummet during the Covid pandemic. Led by Candace Boeninger, VP for Enrollment Management, Ohio U took a “big swing” at reversing the course of enrollment declines. In a discussion with WittKieffer Senior Partner Amy Crutchfield, Boeninger reflects upon the challenges she and colleagues at Ohio U have faced, and how their bold vision of the future has benefited the institution. They also discuss current challenges in enrollment management (including FAFSA uncertainty) and how enrollment leaders can shape their strategies for the future – with the support of peers and their presidents. SPS is bridging opportunity gaps to give ALL students the opportunity to live their best life. 94% of students graduate on time, including multilingual learners. Many districts expect the graduation rate for multilingual learners to be lower...making excuses instead of opportunity. So proud of SPS.
DISTRICT OF DISTINCTION: Spokane Public Schools has been honored as one of just six school districts in the country as a 2024 “District of Distinction." SPS was awarded for excellence in providing access and opportunity to all students, an initiative that had significant impact on student success, engagement and overall educational achievement. “Our staff works hard every day to ensure that each student feels a sense of belonging and is supported in achieving their dreams," said Superintendent Dr. Adam Swinyard. "I'm proud that their work is being recognized by the national educational community through this award." SPS received this recognition from the District Administration Leadership Institute, a national pre-K12 organization dedicated to advancing educational leadership, ensuring that the nation’s schools are equipped with the visionary guidance needed to thrive in an ever-evolving landscape. Its magazine District Administration is the most widely received and read publication for school district-level leaders nationwide. Learn more about the continuing work of Spokane Public Schools to fulfill our commitment that every student has a dream, access and opportunity for a happy and successful future at spokaneschools.org/equity. #SPSPromise

While moderating a NABSE panel with members of the Governors cabinet, NC School Board, and state officials, we are reminded how segregation policies impact our schools, workforce, and talent pipeline. Intentional alignment of economic, industry, housing, and education strategies are part of the solution. We can change our cultural divisions and create a culture of leadership and opportunity. #talentdevelopment #education #opportunity #leadership

I couldn’t agree more with this statement for higher education and our field, ‘The winners will be those who better apply technology in teaching and learning and develop different approaches to credentialing’. I wonder what my higher ed colleagues think 🤔 about this. #HEPNConference #leadership #technology #workforcedevelopment #highereducation #highereducationleadwrship #changemanagement #diversity #students

📘NEW REPORT: strong leaders in maxed-out public school systems need to find new solutions In our latest report from Paul Hill, Sarah McCann, Lydia Rainey, and Chelsea Waite, we explore how strong leadership in two of the nation’s largest school districts (Chicago Public Schools and Boston Public Schools) are making steady progress toward closing post-pandemic gaps in student learning, even in the face of financial, political, and capacity constraints. They’ve had to choose among imperfect strategies and navigate significant, growing challenges. This has meant taking risks, following strategies they might not be able to sustain, and wading deeper into politics than they’d prefer. However, these leaders have hit the limits of their systems—and will have to search for new options and forge alliances with new partners within school boards, unions, and state-level governments to keep moving forward. Read the full report from Paul Hill, Sarah McCann, Lydia R. Rainey, PhD, and Chelsea Waite ⬇️

Inside Higher Ed knows that as administrators and leaders on campus, spending time every summer reflecting on the previous academic year is important. In the May 2024 Student Voices survey, students expressed great things about their college experience, with 78% stating that their education prepares them for life after graduation. Yet, just over half of students (52%) say they have some trust in their institution's leadership. As we spend the summer planning for the 2024-2025 academic year, what is your institution doing to grow to better fit the needs of your students? https://lnkd.in/evyNbvq3
