From the Board: Powering Up Service In his latest column, VAI Board Chair Mark Schlaefli encourages member operators to run for the association's Board of Directors. Recent changes to the VAI bylaws ensure the association's governing board reflects the diversity of the vertical aviation industry, especially as it relates to operation size and sector. Schlaefli also points to the VAI Industry Advisory Councils (IACs), which address key topics such as safety, insurance, and specific missions, as a way for all members to lend their expertise to fuel the growth of vertical aviation. Speaking from his own experience, Schlaefli, the owner and operator of Dakota Rotors, a Part 135/133 operator in the Upper Midwest and Mountain West, emphasizes that becoming a VAI volunteer not only benefits the industry but also powers up professional and personal growth. . . . #VAI #Notice #PowerUpVAI 🔎 Link to the news: https://shorturl.at/XHBs5

Given where much of the attention has been in the news this week, I think it's important to recognize positive social impacts of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS, aka drones), including helping to build safer and more sustainable communities. Congrats to The Aeronautics Division of MassDOT for being awarded $1 million from the Federal Highway Administration’s (FHA) Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration Program, funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and authorized to accelerate innovation in highway transportation. This funding will go toward the second stage of a project to create a "digital software systems infrastructure" saving taxpayer dollars by lowering costs, providing enhanced asset inspection opportunities, and allowing for the monitoring of multiple construction projects simultaneously. All of this to deliver projects more efficiently with the safety of workers and the traveling public top of mind. https://lnkd.in/egwgd7Wf
