  • 🌳✨ Celebrating 35 Years of TreeFolks! ✨🌳 On the Winter Solstice in 1988, a visionary group of Austinites came together, inspired by the need to address global warming and deforestation. They wondered: Could planting trees help our community and the planet? Just a month later, in January 1989, the first TreeFolks tree was planted, and by the end of that year, TreeFolks officially became a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. 35 years and 3 million trees later, we are still growing strong, working to create a greener, healthier future for Central Texas. 🌎💚 To everyone who has supported us on this journey—volunteers, donors, partners, and friends—we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for being part of the TreeFolks family! Here's to the next 35 years of planting hope and growing community. 🌱 #TreeFolks35 #3MillionTrees #GreenFuture #Gratitude

As a member of EarthShare Texas, TreeFolks receives support from the nonprofit federation through unrestricted funding and capacity support. We are thrilled to be a part of their Green Leaders Fellowship 2025 cohort, and it is a privilege to introduce you to the Green Leader who will be amplifying the work of our organization over the course of the Fellowship. Cristen Andrews will document the nursery's processes through content creation and support with TreeFolks "Nursery of Nurseries" curriculum outline. Cristen will have the opportunity to work closely with our Nursery Manager, Vít Kašpar, gaining practical skills and knowledge in tree nursery operations. This initiative seeks to expand opportunities for early-career environmentalists while simultaneously addressing capacity limitations for nonprofits - a nuanced solution that addresses Green Workforce constraints while building the green leadership pipeline. • On October 27, the Equipment Leasing and Finance Association’s Annual Convention guests joined TreeFolks near Shoal Beach at Town Lake Metropolitan Park. ELFA volunteers arrived at 9 a.m. and worked until noon, enriching this green space and leaving a meaningful mark on Austin’s landscape. With your help, we planted over 500 trees and other native plants! We are so grateful to you all for showing up on a Sunday and working hard to get these plants in the ground. We are finally enjoying some rain this week after a long drought, so it seems we got these planted right on time! TreeFolks is deeply grateful for their support and for ELFA’s generous $13,000 donation, which will help sustain our mission of growing community through trees. Thank you, ELFA, for helping us make Austin Greener!
