  • Nothing concerning was located and students and staff safely returned to Creekside High School this morning following a bomb threat. Around 8am, SJSO received information from a subject who was on a “dark web” site and observed a photo of a backpack and language about a “few bombs” being placed around Creekside High School. SJSO Real Time Intelligence Center (RTIC) analysts discovered the photograph was associated with a bomb threat investigation from 2011 in Spokane, Washington. Out of caution, students and staff were safely evacuated to a nearby location. Explosive Detection K9 Tonic and his handler, Deputy Stephanie Stuart, conducted a search of the school with assistance from additional deputies. Nothing concerning was discovered and the school was reopen.

  • Happy New Year, St. Johns County! We hope you and your family have a safe holiday. If you have plans to celebrate, please do so responsibly and don't drive under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In 2024, St. Johns County law enforcement agencies responded to 200+ crashes involving impaired driving; 14 of those crashes involved serious injuries, and 8 of them resulted in a death. 1,000+ DUI arrests have been made this year as SJSO and partner law enforcement agencies are committed to removing impaired drivers from our roadways. Never get behind the wheel if you are impaired or ride in the vehicle with someone driving under the influence. If you observe an impaired driver, call 911. Check out these resources offering local safe rides: > AAA Tow to Go Program: Call (855) 2-TOW-2-GO for a safe ride > Farah & Farah New Years Eve Safe Ride Home Program: https://lnkd.in/dFnqqR_s Don't be a statistic, plan ahead and ring in 2025 on a good note. Happy New Year!

  • On December 22, 2024, SJSO and Florida Highway Patrol responded to a severe crash detection on 911 pinging on I-95. Upon arrival, Deputy Shumaker encountered a citizen who was in search for his cell phone that had fallen off his vehicle as he got back on the interstate from the rest area. Deputy Shumaker, FHP Troopers, and the citizen walked along the interstate until the phone was found. Great teamwork! #teamsjso

  • This month, Sykes Family Farm donated a generous amount to support the SJSO Explorer program. The Explorers work tirelessly in October to support the farm in helping the parking coordination, cleaning up the property and assisting in day to day operations. Some of the Explorers even assisted in looking for lost children that wandered from parents. SJSO Explorers set an example of discipline, honesty and hard work daily when out in the community. Thank you Sykes Family Farm for your third year of continued support in our SJSO Explorer program!
