Cerise+SPTF promotes #ClientProtection & our #UniversalStandards for Social & Environmental Performance Management.

About us

Cerise+SPTF is a joint venture of two leading global organizations dedicated to #social and #environmental performance management—a way of doing business that puts #people and the #planet at the center of every decision. Founded in 2005, the Social Performance Task Force, or SPTF, developed, and regularly updated, the Universal Standards for Social and Environmental Performance Management. First issued in 2012, the #UniversalStandards, like all SPTF’s efforts, guide impact-driven #FinancialService providers in making finance safer and more beneficial for low-income customers. As a membership organization, SPTF has more than 4,900 participating individuals from every region of the world. Cerise, a French non-profit organization created in 1998, pioneered the implementation of social performance management, working with committed microfinance institutions to launch the Social Performance Indicators initiative in 2001 (SPI Online today). As a social innovator, Cerise works with actors in #InclusiveFinance, #SocialBusiness, and #ImpactInvesting to co-create social standards and social #assessment #tools that are free to all. Cerise also offers fee-based consultancy services to all types of impact-driven organizations, equipping them with the skills and tools they need to define and achieve their impact goals. Cerise+SPTF believes in the power of getting started. Wherever you are on your social and environmental performance management journey—curious, unsure where to start, stuck on a certain point, or determined to grow from good to great— we will meet you where you are. And we will bring the tools you need to succeed.

  • At Cerise+SPTF, we are proud to collaborate with the Alliance of Digital Finance and Fintech Associations (Alliance DFA)- a global hub uniting associations to foster synergy, amplify impact, and drive innovative knowledge exchange.  🚀 Amelia Greenberg, Deputy Director of the Social Performance Task Force, delivered recently trainings to Alliance DFA members on the DFS Standards, which are management standards for financial service providers of all types, including fintechs, for the responsible provision of digital financial services. The trainings on the DFS Standards equipped the Alliance DFA country directors to help their members make digital finance safer and more inclusive for all. 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬: 🗣The training was initially delivered in French in September, with an English series the following month. 📖 Two engaging sessions in each language, designed to deepen understanding and practical application. ⚙️ Participants practiced using the DFS Standards evaluation tool. 💬 The head of one national fintech association observed: "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐅𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧 𝐚𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲."   👋 We invite you to explore these resources.  Training recordings and PowerPoints are available here:  👉 https://lnkd.in/eqBTR3N3 This is just the beginning! • #GoodRead 🚀 "𝗟𝗮𝘄 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲” : Strengthening client protection through regulation On June 4th, 2024, in Manila, Cerise+SPTF hosted a Regulator Dialogue on strengthening Consumer Protection during the Cerise+SPTF Annual Meeting, co-hosted with the Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc. This dialogue, funded by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), gathered central bankers, regulators, and experts from 12 countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Following the peer exchange format, the conversations focused on implementation issues related to advancing sustainable consumer protection practices in the financial sector. This curated group of discussants included countries that are facing client protection challenge and those that have encountered these challenges and put in place regulatory mitigants and practices. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐬:  💡 The 3Cs Framework: Issues of Culture, Capability, and Collaboration guided discussions on tackling consumer protection challenges, designing effective policies, and enhancing supervision. 🤝 Market systems approach: Inclusive dialogue with regulators, consumer advocates from Consumers International, and thought leaders from Cerise+SPTF. 📊 Actionable insights: Participants shared strategies for integrating consumer protection into corporate governance, empowering consumers, and leveraging data analytics to strengthen regulatory outcomes.   This event underscored the power of peer learning and international collaboration in addressing consumer protection challenges while promoting financial inclusion. Importantly, it advanced the conversation towards the implementation of regulation rather than just broad strokes on the need for effective action. 🎯 Discover more: Download the full report to explore key takeaways and innovative policy recommendations:  https://lnkd.in/ehA556Et   🙏 Acknowledgments: A heartfelt thank you to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Gouvernement luxembourgeois Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Defence, Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, and the Agence Française de Développement for their generous support, enabling us to create a platform for impactful dialogue. And of course the dialogue participants for their time and contributions in making the exchanges meaningful. #ConsumerProtection #FinancialInclusion #RegulationMatters #Collaboration #RIFFSEA

  • 🌱💡 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞 - Throwback to our mid-term meeting for the Transform Together Fund with the Microfinance Centre On Oct 8-9 in Warsaw, we exchanged with the 9 partners of the #TransformTogetherFund project, on their digital and green innovations to improve skills of vulnerable populations. We have learned from the partners about chat-bots to discuss with customers, #DigitalLending, e-signatures, ways to build digital skills for micro-entrepreneurs, and more tech solutions! 🔎 Technology has enabled significant progress in financial inclusion. Digital tools and 𝐝𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬 (DFS) represent a great opportunity as it can make financial services safer, more transparent, and more efficient. But the level of harm that #customers are already experiencing from DFS is also increasing: cyber criminality, fraud, inadequate recourse mechanisms, over-indebtedness, lack of transparency, unclear/unfair pricing, among many other #risks. 💡 During our #TTFMeeting, we shared the work conducted by Cerise+SPTF over the past five years to build the Management Standards for the Responsible Provision of Digital Financial Services (the 𝐃𝐅𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬), a set of practices to mitigate the risks of customer harm. The DFS Standards are organized in five dimensions, covering 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲, 𝐠𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞, 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧, 𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐬. As a public good, the DFS Standards come along with a free evaluation tool that digital financial service providers of all types can use. 👉 Learn more about the DFS Standards and Evaluation Tool: https://lnkd.in/eqBTR3N3 💬 With the partners in Warsaw, we discussed the way to implement the DFS Standards to address the customer protection risks from DFS and how these issues should be discussed in the revision of the 𝐄𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐆𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 to ensure digital finance can be inclusive, safe, and beneficial to customers. How’s the program going so far? – Catapulters share their thoughts: ❝ The sessions have truly opened my eyes in ways I hadn’t expected. The panels have been amazing, and it felt like they illuminated a path I hadn't seen before—more opportunities than I’ve ever encountered with anyone in business.
