At the Laos Country Investment Roundtable, ADA’s Programme Manager Lucia Cigana discussed how ADA is supporting the agricultural sector through financial inclusion. She presented the upcoming ICCAP (Inclusive Climate Finance for Vulnerable Communities in the Asia Pacific) project that ADA is implementing with APRACA and SEI — Stockholm Environment Institute to develop green financial products that address the needs of vulnerable communities in Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Fiji, Laos and Nepal. The roundtable was organised by the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (FAO-RAP) and the Asia-Pacific Rural and Agricultural Credit Association (APRACA Secretariat). The ADA-coordinated SSNUP programme co-financed a project by impact investor Oikocredit that supported the microinsurance broker Inclusive Guarantee Sénégal in distributing agricultural index insurance products to smallholder farmers in Senegal. Index-based insurance is based on weather indices that automatically trigger compensation payments, thereby making it particularly suitable for small, remote farms. SSNUP commissioned an in-depth survey to follow up the project based on interviews with smallholders and other project stakeholders to gain a better understanding of the results and the impact. ADA co-financed a comprehensive study by the Central American Impact Investing Platform - Plataforma de Inversión de Impacto Centroamericana (PiiC) - that takes stock of the impact investing landscape in the region. The first study of this kind, the document gives a broad overview of the key actors, asset volumes and investment barriers with a special focus on climate finance https://lnkd.in/evVsbdPU The study will help ADA to roll out its Climate Finance Initiative (ICFI) in Central America. ICFI strives to channel international climate funding and impact investments to people who need it most. To this end, the programme aims to both increase the supply of financing on the one hand and to strengthen the resilience of vulnerable populations in partnership with local climate adaptation facilitators on the other hand. #climatefinance #developmentprojects #inclusivefinance #climateadaptation #study #CentralAmerica

At the Inclusive and Sustainable Finance Research Conference, hosted by the University Chair in Financial Law (Inclusive Finance) in Luxembourg, Mathilde Bauwin, Head of Knowledge Management at ADA, presented key findings from a collaborative analysis with the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). The research explored the environmental impact of two inclusive finance projects.   💬 "The study demonstrates that inclusive finance, by enabling access to green energy, can significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the transition to a greener economy. ADA a achevé avec succès un projet de 3 ans dédié à promouvoir l'inclusion financière en Tunisie, un pays où près de 40% de la population adulte est exclue des services financiers formels.
