🌍 Happy International Men's Day🌟 In Early Years, men are hugely under-represented. The percentage of men working in the sector is alarmingly small, which is such a shame considering the huge impact they can have on young children's lives. Working in the apprenticeship field, this is no different. Men in early years apprenticeships are pioneers in many ways, often navigating a field where their presence is less common but their impact is undeniable. Each of these apprentices is more than a learner—they are changemakers, shaping not just their own careers, but a wider vision of gender diversity in education. When boys and girls see men nurturing, leading, and educating, they grow up with broader perspectives and healthier, more balanced views of the roles they can play in society. Breaking Barriers: Encouraging Men into Early Years Education Today, we had the privilege of attending a powerful speech on encouraging more men to join the early years sector. It was an eye-opening experience that highlighted the challenges, but also the opportunities, for creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce. The discussion emphasised the importance of challenging stereotypes, showcasing male role models, and ensuring workplaces are welcoming and supportive for everyone. It’s a message that truly resonates with us as an apprenticeship provider, as we work to inspire individuals from all backgrounds to explore the rewarding career paths available in early years education. We’re more determined than ever to support initiatives that break down barriers and create opportunities for everyone. One of the great opportunities of apprenticeships is to drive greater DEI whilst I agree employers need to be more educated and proactive in driving greater DEI - I think the influencers, educators, career advisors need to be more aware of options/sectors out there - The Events Industry is a great example, very few now of the events sector - we working to change that. eventsapprenticeships.org
