Had a blast co-hosting a parent panel with our client, PwC Canada, about navigating working parenthood and career at PwC, as part of their Inclusion Network series! Thanks to our panelists for sharing their candid experiences about the joys and challenges of navigating those early parenting years - and to our coach, Alex Nabavian, for moderating this great discussion. #community #workingparents #pwcProud

on maternity leave until sometime in 2025 ✨🍼

I told my leadership team that I was pregnant a week after getting hired. I took maternity leave 9 months after starting my new role. I worked all the way up until a couple days before I was due. Before I left, my manager told me that I will have work waiting for me when I return. I know job security isn't a thing nowadays but knowing that I am still needed and hiring on my team is not slowing down. While I was pregnant, I had over 100 hires and was making offers up until I clocked out on my last day. I want to share with someone that there are work environments / leadership teams that will support you regardless of your personal situation and also trust that you are still capable of doing your job.

What are some of the ways to spend one's 15-year wedding anniversary? When you're a parent, it's anyone's guess how the day may turn out. We "celebrated" in pediatrics ER with a sick kid, trying to get answers on what her symptoms may have been manifesting. Sitting in a waiting room, I felt...good. That we were there as a unit, both comforting our feverish kiddo; both asking the doctor questions about the test and the medication options should it come back positive. I felt good about having a life partner who is a very present father (as I know that this is not necessarily what our society historically expected of men). According to recent study, millennial dads spend twice as much time with their children compared to their own fathers, they prioritize paternity leave, and 57% consider parenthood an important part of their identity. The Female Quotient cited that Finnish dads have taken double the parental leave since 2022 (!) when a new benefit was introduced in the county, giving each parent an equal amount of paid leave with an option to transfer 62 days to another parent. Last week I attended a The Conference Board event focused on employee well being. One of the conversations lead by Allison Whalen of Parentaly was particularly interesting to me as it showcased how their program was implemented in various organizations and how it prepared both primary and secondary parents for upcoming birth and/or adoption leaves. I squeezed in a question about men's participation rates, and it turns out over 40% of program's active users are men! And their clients report that implementing comprehensive parental leave policies results in more men taking the leave. Supporting working parents is not mainly or just about supporting a birthing parent. It is about supporting a family unit as a whole, allowing both parents flexibility and opportunity to actively engage in their children's lives. Clearly many dads want to be there for all of those milestones and more of them should be able to when there is a strong employer support. #workingparents #parentalleave #paternityleave #leavepolicies #parentserg #millenialparents

Brand & Marketing @ Parentaly | Mom 👧🏻👧🏻 | Producer of The False Tradeoff podcast | Brand & Culture Builder | Photographer | DMs open: parental leave, policy, benefits & working parenthood!

Let’s talk about wellness in the workplace. A few weeks ago, Parentaly spoke at The Conference Board’s wellbeing event with a few clients about improving the parental leave experience. As I looked around the room, I was in awe to be surrounded by hundreds of HR execs who prioritize the health and wellbeing of their employees. People were laser-focused on learning about the solutions their peers use to foster healthier, happier and more productive employees. I saw leaders like: Dalana Brand of Peloton share her approach to wellness as as the leader of the people function, Angie Croscup of Boston Consulting Group explain how listening to feedback led her to find a mental health solution that solved their employees’ needs, Sarah Caron of IDEXX describe how she tackled challenges around providing equitable mental healthcare to their diverse workforce, Mike Jansen of Walmart discuss how they’ve built their benefits suite to support the unique news of their employees... And so many other strong sessions from folks sharing what works for them. It was energizing to be a part of it. Felt great to contribute to the wellness conversation alongside our clients Allyson Bronner (Morgan Stanley) and Paloma Thombley (Handshake). As you can see, our team was all smiles. This event was the perfect way to close out our busy year of events. Can’t wait to do it again next year!

  • What we hope you'll take away from our research about the parental leave employee experience and its impact on business continuity: “I want [hr leaders] to feel inspired, because there are very simple and easy ways to make this so much better…if a company does one thing to make it better, that is a huge win.” — Allison Whalen Haven't read the study yet?
