A new paradigm for data integration, analysis, and visualization: Seeking Sponsors for the OGC AI-DGGS Pilot! Are you facing challenges with: - Integrating disparate geospatial data sources? - Leveraging AI for location-based insights? - Improving efficiency in disaster response, asset management, environmental monitoring, or other location-dependent operations? - Visualizing complex geospatial data effectively? OGC is launching a groundbreaking initiative, the OGC AI-DGGS Pilot, designed to address such challenges. We're seeking visionary sponsors to join us in shaping the future of geospatial information through Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS) enhanced with cutting-edge AI. What are DGGS and why are they so exciting? DGGS partition the Earth into a hierarchical grid of cells, creating a "spreadsheet for Earth" where every location has a unique, digital identifier. This offers a significant leap beyond traditional geographic reference systems, enabling: - Seamless Data Integration & Analysis: Effortlessly combine data from various sources and scales by associating them with common cell IDs. - Enhanced Localization and Identification across Domains: Precisely locate and identify entities without traditional addresses - a boon for disaster management, finance, insurance, and environmental analysis. - Simplified and Scalable Visualization: The regular, cell-based structure of DGGS simplifies the visualization of geospatial data, and facilitates efficient rendering of large datasets. DGGS also provide an ideal foundation for AI-Powered natural language queries using a RAG approach. As such, the Pilot will also investigate how to use a RAG approach to provide AI models access to authoritative DGGS-based data stores - eliminating the risk of "hallucinations" and ensuring accurate, reliable responses to natural language queries such as "how many people will need to be evacuated?" Why Sponsor the AI-DGGS Pilot? - Lead the Way in Geospatial Innovation: Directly influence the development of next-generation geospatial standards and technologies at the intersection of DGGS and AI. - Establish Industry Leadership: Position your organization as a pioneer and thought leader in the rapidly evolving geospatial landscape. - Shape the Pilot to Your Needs: Tailor research and development activities to address your specific interoperability challenges and business requirements. - Collaborate with Leading Experts: Partner with other interested organizations such as Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) and U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), gaining valuable insights and connections. The pilot begins in early 2025. Don't miss this chance to be part of a transformative project! It was a pleasure to have you at Innovation Days DC, Shayna Solis (formerly Skolnik), just as it was great to have Navteca's responsible conversational AI, Voice Atlas, there to collaborate with participants and help shape ideas and insights.
Founder/CEO: Navteca | Voice Atlas | Climate Warrior Collective || Emerging Technology and Innovation, Immersive Visualization for Science, Game Technology for Understanding Climate Change and Disaster Risk, AI/NLP
This week was the The Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) Innovation Summit in Washington DC at the beautiful American Red Cross headquarters. It was great to be back amongst colleagues after months quietly focusing on my health. Navteca was an event sponsor and we were delighted to donate the use of Voice Atlas, our responsible conversational AI tool. During several roundtable sessions led by Micah Brachman, session participants used AI from specific Voice Atlas knowledge bases to investigate problems and offer solutions around data interoperability and geospatial applications. I also presented alongside an illustrious panel, chaired by OGC’s Ingo Simonis, in a panel discussion entitled: Artificial Intelligence, Integrity, Provenance, and Trust. Panelists -Zaffar Sadiq Mohamed-Ghouse, Lucio Colaiacomo, myself, Anna Rubinstein, and Dave Cook - we all had unique perspectives, but consensus about the importance of these trust tenets for AI. In this era of rapid proliferation of AI tools and implementation, it’s nice to see organizations like OGC leading the way with content that highlights the importance of integrity, transparency, responsibility, and accountability for #AI.
