Omnicom Media Group North America has a new Chief Investment Office as PHD CIO Katie Klein moves up to lead the investment at the group level. An early pioneer of audience-first investment strategies, Klein crafted some of the industry’s first cross-screen, cross-content deals, creating partnerships that tapped into the biggest moments in culture with activations that drive business outcomes. At PHD, she has developed a playbook for leveraging CTV as a performance vehicle and created a cross-channel training and development program to ensure next-gen skills for gen-next investment talent. Announcing Klein’s move to the group-level role during a December 4th company-wide Town Hall, OMG North America CEO Ralph Pardo described her as a “practitioner leader” who can deliver on modern marketers’ most critical priorities: performance and transformation. Great news for Omnicom Media Group in the 2024 projected billings report from COMvergence showing OMG had the highest rate (10.2%) and volume ($4.2) of billings growth among all global media groups this year; OMG agency OMD Worldwide ranked #1 for total billings volume, with the highest rate and volume of growth among all global media networks; and PHD and Hearts & Science delivered growth across every region. The COMvergence projections mark the third industry assessment in the past 30+ days in which OMG has significantly outperformed its category. In November leading research and advisory firm Forrester named OMG a “Leader” in its Forrester Wave evaluating global media management groups - a report that saw OMG earn both the highest score among the 12 groups assessed in the report as well as endorsements from clients for its transparent business practices, trustworthy relationships, and the strength of its Omni operating system for media and business intelligence. Earlier this month, the COMvergence Global Media Agency New Business Barometer Q1-Q3 2024 revealed OMG as the #1 global media group for new business in the first nine months of the year. Fueled by a series of wins and retentions that included Amazon, Volkswagen Group, Unilever, Priceline, HanesBrands, and HP, OMG won $7.37 billion in total new business (wins minus losses, including retentions) – representing 28% of all new business awarded the during the first nine months of the year - while also earning the highest retention rate (85%) in its category. As reported in the Global Media Agency New Business Barometer Q1-Q3 2024 - an analysis of the global media agency marketplace published this week by independent research company COMvergence – Omnicom Media Group was awarded $7.37 billion in client billings – including $4.4 million in retained business - during the first nine months of the year, outperforming its nearest competitor by more than 40 percent. Remarkably, OMG also earned the highest retention rate, successfully defending 85% of its billings in review while concurrently expanding its client roster.
