Hello API world! Kong Inc. has raised an oversubscribed $175M round at a $2B valuation! 🦍 As we transition from UI-based human services to API-based machine services, this new AI wave will drive a surge of new data centers and increased electricity consumption. Ultimately, this will require a new networking infrastructure to make it all connected. In the cloud, it will all come to life with more APIs. The Series E financing represents an almost 45% valuation increase from our previous funding and includes both primary and secondary; led again by Tiger Global. Co-led by new investor Balderton and new strong participation from Teachers’ Venture Growth (the late-stage growth investment arm of Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan). Additionally, many of our existing investors, such as Index Ventures, a16z, CRV, Sapphire Ventures, and Notable Capital, also participated. We also added 137 Ventures, Founding Circle, and Stepstone as new participants. It’s also not only a reflection of Kong's leadership and efficient growth trajectory but also the long-lasting giant API opportunity ahead of us. Thank you for the team's hard work and focus. This year, it was an absolute privilege to be part of the organizing committee to put together an incredible summit.
