November is #HospiceandPalliativeCareMonth. While visiting his mother in the hospital during her final days, Ian Adler decided to create the Yip Stool, a one-of-a-kind chair that allows family members and clinicians to comfortably sit bedside with patients who are receiving end-of-life care. “Yip is a gibberish word my mother and I used to say to each other when she was alive. The stools are the embodiment of my love for my mother and my hope for an expanded definition of what end of life care can include,” says Ian. “We’re so grateful to Ian for donating these beautifully designed stools,” says Dr. Alexander Rimar, director of Geriatrics/Palliative Medicine for Northwell Health's Western region and chief of Hospice, Palliative Care and Geriatric Medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital. “They allow me and my team to sit closer to patients and their families, which is especially important as we help them navigate end-of-life care.” We’re grateful to Ian for his generous donation of these unique stools to Lenox Hill Hospital and the positive impact they have on the experience for our patients, caregivers and clinical team. 🪑❤️ Learn more about how you can support programs at https://lnkd.in/eiMYN452
