Over the past year, we’ve been rehabilitating water hand pumps and distributing water filters to families from villages surrounding Adré transit camps in eastern Chad. More than 200,000 people are currently living in makeshift shelters in the camps. With so many people, resources are limited and there’s a need to increase the quantity of safe water for drinking, cooking, and sanitation. By reinstating water hand pumps, we’ve successfully provided safe water to hundreds of thousands of refugees in the camps.

As temperatures drop in Gaza, children are especially vulnerable to health risks. Israel’s ongoing war has left countless families without proper access to essential items such as clean water, food, and warm shelter. Our teams supporting pediatric and neonatal care at Nasser Hospital have been operating above capacity since July, with 25 beds occupied. Read how we’re responding to the various health needs. https://lnkd.in/ebCjZMWC

Reflecting on the past year through imagery: scenes of resilience, solidarity, care and hope from around the world. ❤️ This collection of photos was taken between December 2023 and December 2024. Over the past year, conflicts in Sudan, Palestine, Haiti, and Ukraine continued to fuel our humanitarian efforts. We saw outbreaks of diseases like mpox in DR Congo, dengue in Honduras, and even the resurgence of polio in Gaza. The climate emergency also spurred health risks following devastating floods in places like Brazil, Chad, and Nigeria. Even while responding to emergencies, our teams still maintained support for health care activities in places where the needs are greatest.

"No matter how much you describe it, you can’t explain. Only someone living in this situation, in a tent, can truly feel what we feel." Our colleague Hussam is among the displaced people living in tents in Al Mawasi. He tells us about the situation as #winter sets in.

He shared, "The situation is alarming. We’re working tirelessly to provide the necessary care and help put in place preventive measures and treatment, including vaccinating children against the disease." https://lnkd.in/eHkekndd
