Expeditionary Medical Facility Kilo personnel partnered with Joint Task Force-Bravo at Hospital Escuela in Tegucigalpa, Honduras this fall. Bringing with them an array of medicine and equipment, EMF Kilo’s 11-person team worked alongside Hospital Escuela medical staff treating and performing surgical procedures on patients with oncologic or orthopedic traumatic injuries. In line with the MHS Strategy, the Military Health System and United States Department of Defense committed their efforts to #WomensHealth research and representation this year. DOD announced a $500 million commitment to advance women’s health research aimed at improving the medical readiness of the armed forces and supporting the health of women service members, veterans and beneficiaries. Uniformed Services University hosted the Military Women’s Health Research Initiative Celebration, bringing together leaders from the DOD, Veterans Health Administration, The White House, and key military health stakeholders to highlight the critical progress made in addressing the unique medical needs of military women and the importance of focused, evidence-based care for service members and veterans. #Spotlight: Naval Health Research Center (NHRC) was featured in the latest episode of National Public Radio’s (NPR) Marketplace podcast series, “How We Survive”.
