The Fourth Sunday of Advent reminds us that the season of waiting is almost over. As we light the final candle, we reflect on the peace and joy that Christ brings to the world. May these next few days be filled with hope and anticipation as we prepare our hearts for His arrival!

Why is the 3rd Advent candle pink? While the purple candles represent hope, peace, and love—qualities often cultivated through reflection—the pink or rose color stands out as a reminder to celebrate. This candle reflects the joy that breaks through the experience of waiting and preparation for the celebration of Jesus’s birth, reminding us of the nearness of God’s presence. Rejoice!

Today is #FoundationDay at Mercy, a day to remember Catherine McAuley and her companions, Mary Ann Doyle and Elizabeth Harley, who, on December 12, 1831, professed vows of poverty, chastity, obedience and service in Dublin, Ireland. In doing so, a new community was formed; the Sisters of Mercy, a community committed to a shared mission of compassionately serving the poor, sick and underserved. This ring, worn by Catherine, served as a reminder of this vow and today, we recall these early beginnings that spread so quickly throughout Ireland, the United States and the globe.
