The "CIO Priorities 2024 Report" by Infotech Research highlights the increasing focus on AI within organizational strategies. Among the top 5 priorities outlined, two are related to AI integration, with an additional emphasis on Third Party Risk management. The report specifically addresses the importance of incorporating generative AI capabilities into business processes efficiently, whether through internal development or external procurement. Additionally, a key challenge identified is establishing AI governance that strikes the right balance between fostering innovation and aligning with existing risk management frameworks. Navigating the complexities of "Right-sizing AI Governance" poses a significant hurdle, especially when the trade-offs between risk and business outcomes are not clearly defined. Exciting news from Mercury! The launch of our AURORA product and model enables organizations to assess their risk exposure in near-real-time concerning current and future AI implementations. https://lnkd.in/gQBWZ-tV In case you missed it, check out this episode on #NextGenCalls and the discussion led by Devon Jones. Next Gen Calls: "In this episode, we welcome Gavin Anthony Grounds, CEO and co-founder of Mercury Risk and Compliance, Inc., to share his expertise in risk management, innovation, and business strategy. Gavin's journey spans multiple continents and industries, from technology and cybersecurity to executive roles at Meta, Verizon, DXC, and HP. He explains how his diverse experiences shaped his approach to managing risk and navigating rapid change in the digital age. We start by discussing Gavin's unique perspective on balancing passion with practicality. He reveals how his love for music has complemented his business endeavors and how embracing both creativity and logic has driven his success. He shares insights on the parallels between music and business, where both art and science meet to create meaningful outcomes. Gavin delves into the challenges of risk management, emphasizing the importance of resilience, curiosity, and adaptability. He discusses how risk should not always be reduced but managed for optimal returns, comparing this to risk management in other areas like credit and technology. His thoughts on risk versus reward challenge conventional approaches to cybersecurity, suggesting that finding the right balance can lead to innovation and growth. We also explore the role of metrics in shaping behavior within teams and organizations. Gavin critiques the traditional models of performance management and highlights how they often incentivize mediocrity instead of innovation. He offers alternative strategies for leaders to foster environments where calculated risk-taking is encouraged, and failure is seen as an opportunity for learning and growth. In the second half, we dive into the future of technology and AI in business. Gavin talks about the current landscape of AI, its potential to transform industries, and the fear surrounding its adoption. He argues for a more pragmatic approach, emphasizing the need to embrace AI while maintaining ethical standards and privacy considerations. Finally, Gavin shares actionable advice for leaders and entrepreneurs on building effective teams, setting clear expectations, and managing risk to achieve business goals. He stresses the importance of communication in managing expectations and ensuring alignment within teams. To reach Gavin Grounds, connect with him on LinkedIn at https://lnkd.in/gnreqxND. What does a full week look like for the executive team at Mercury? For our co-founders, Grace Beason and Gavin Anthony Grounds , it actually started at the end of last week with business in New York, then… Sunday morning: A 10 mile race through the streets of Brooklyn, for the New Balance Bronx 10 Mile, with New York Road Runners and charity for children. Sunday afternoon: Business lunch in Manhattan. Sunday night: Flight to London, UK. Monday Morning: Day 1 of the Gartner Security and Risk Management Summit. Excellent start. After the summit, it’ll be a briefed stop for business meetings in Dublin before X-Atlantic flights home on Friday. Just a little bit of energy here at Mercury! Their calendars are almost fully blocked, but they do have one or two openings still available, so reach out if you’re at the conference this week or in Dublin and would like to connect on your cyber security, risk management and GRC journeys. https://lnkd.in/gRYSzcDU #NBBronx10M #gartnersec #grc #cybersecurity, #risk, #security #charity #teammercury

Conveying the risks and progress for a #cybersecurity program to executives is difficult. Over the years, I have explored countless ways to quickly and effectively distill the complexities of cyber risk into a simple graphic that informs management teams so the best decisions can be made. This is my go-to graphic when talking with executives and boards because it: 1. Showcases strategic value 2. Conveys operational updates at a strategic level 3. Highlights important issues 4. Provides the right level of understanding for non-security audiences 5. Drives the right conversations for good risk decisions 6. Is easy to create and update In the video I discuss why it is powerful, how to use it to drive productive conversations, and walk through the simple steps to create one. What is your favorite cybersecurity graphic to drive good executive decisions? https://lnkd.in/gyqCbcBx #metrics Mercury Risk and Compliance, Inc. #leadership
