About us
The Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard (LISH) is spurring the development of a science of innovation through a systematic program of solving real-world innovation challenges while simultaneously conducting rigorous scientific research and analysis. LISH is a Harvard-wide research program lead by faculty co-directors Karim Lakhani, Harvard Business School; Eva Guinan, Harvard Medical School; and David Parkes, Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences; with support from the Institute for Quantitative Social Science. With our partners in both academia and industry, LISH conducts research on innovation in three main tracks: - Incentives & Governance - Creativity & Problem-Solving - Organization & Processes Which are applied within five areas of application: - Crowdsourcing & Open Innovation - Data Science & AI Development - Science of Science - Managing R&D Labs & Organizations - Technology Translation

A recent survey of over 4,000 U.S.-based academics reveals a compelling insight: researchers who view their work as high-risk are more diligently seeking funding. This study, led by our Kyle Myers and co-authored by Institute experts Wei Yang Tham, Nina Cohodes, Karim Lakhani, Rachel Mural, and Yilun Xu, and Laboratory for Innovation Science at Harvard collaborators Jerry Thursby and Marie Thursby, challenges the notion that science shies away from risk, suggesting instead that taking bold steps could lead to groundbreaking discoveries. 🧬🔬 Dive deeper into how risk-taking is reshaping scientific research and why it matters for future innovations. Discover the full story and the implications of this survey's findings in this Nature article: https://lnkd.in/eaby3Q4P #ScienceInnovation #RiskTaking #ResearchFunding #LISH #ResearchImpact #Nature
