At First Bank's new HQ, employee well-being is prioritized through our integrated design. The central courtyard and flexible workspaces ensure that every desk has access to nature, encouraging circulation throughout the building and promoting health and productivity. An inviting, open staircase strategically positioned to entice movement further supports wellness, subtly encouraging employees to choose stairs over elevators and naturally increasing daily physical activity. Natural light, outdoor access, and green spaces cultivate a tranquil environment that fosters mental and physical wellness. This thoughtful integration of biophilic design shows how architecture can enhance the employee experience while improving performance. This is the workplace of the future. An amazing addition to Chicago's South Side adding Advocate Health Care! Advocate Health Care has announced a $300 million investment to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital on the northwest portion of the former U.S. Steel site. A big step forward! Read more below from CRG.
Related Midwest and CRG are proud to continue reimagining the 440-acre former U.S. Steel South Works site as a vibrant hub of innovation, opportunity, and progress. Advocate Health Care's announcement of a $300 million investment to build a state-of-the-art hospital on the site is a testament to the possibilities of collaboration between the public and private sectors to invest in communities and drive meaningful change. This facility will replace Advocate Trinity Hospital, bringing cutting-edge healthcare services to the community and addressing critical health disparities. It’s part of Advocate’s broader $1 billion commitment to #Chicago's South Side, which includes ten new neighborhood care locations, expanded services, and over 1,000 new permanent jobs. This investment joins the Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics Park (IQMP), anchored by PsiQuantum, in reshaping South Works into a center of health, technology, and economic revitalization. CRG is honored to be part of this development and extends our gratitude to Advocate Health Care, Related Midwest, and all the public and private leaders driving this transformation. When real estate developers dare to dream big, take calculated risks, and collaborate with both elected officials and corporate leaders to create a true public-private win-win, incredible things happen. A prime example is the partnership between Related Midwest with its leaders Curt Bailey and Michael Ellch and CRG, Clayco’s real estate arm, with its leaders Shawn Clark and Steve Schnur, as they reimagine the former U.S. Steel site on Chicago’s South Side. This venture has attracted significant attention over the past few weeks and months. It began with the announcement of the "Illinois Quantum & Microelectronics (IQMP)" project on the south side of the parcel. Then, just last week, City Council approved the full 440-acre planning framework. Only a few days later, IBM’s National Quantum Algorithm Center was confirmed to be joining the IQMP. And now, Advocate Health Care has announced a $300 million investment to build a new, state-of-the-art hospital on the northwest portion of the former U.S. Steel site. This facility will replace the existing Advocate Trinity Hospital in Calumet Heights. The investment is part of a broader, $1 billion plan by Advocate Health Care over the next decade to invest in multiple South Side projects, expand critical healthcare services, and address the racial life expectancy gap. Smart, visionary, and inclusive real estate development is essential to building a better future for all Chicagoans. Huge thanks to Advocate Health Care—its president Dia Nichols, FACHE and his entire team—and everyone in the public and private sectors who has contributed to this transformative project. A special shout-out to the visionary leadership of Related Midwest and CRG, Clayco's real estate arm, for helping make this monumental transformation a reality on Chicago’s South Side. Last week was a productive one for the former U.S. Steel site on the South Side of Chicago. The 440-acre site, which has been vacant for over three decades, is set to be transformed through a new master plan featuring over 59 million square feet of development. We are thrilled to partner with Related Midwest and bring our integrated services (Develop: CRG, Design: Lamar Johnson Collaborative, Build: Clayco) to deliver the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP), the PsiQuantum facility and the larger master plan. The project is designed to position Illinois as a leader in quantum research and next-generation technologies, while driving economic growth and innovation. Thank you to everyone who championed this vision for a future that not only empowers communities but puts Chicago at the forefront of global technology and innovation.
