About us
Lam Partners provides lighting consulting for architecture and urban design. We combine the experience and professionalism nurtured over the 50-year history of our firm with the creativity, flexibility, and responsiveness demanded by today’s projects. Lam Partners staff members have professional degrees and knowledge of lighting design, architecture, engineering, and industrial design, and include Registered Architects, Professional Engineers, and LEED Accredited Professionals. Our multi-disciplinary professional staff is large enough to serve projects of virtually any size, and gives us the project management, design, and production resources necessary to serve project needs efficiently – and to meet deadlines. We believe that effective lighting design begins with an understanding of architectural and urban design principles, and of the design and construction process itself. Our approach is founded on our ability to understand our client’s design intention, and to use lighting skillfully to realize that vision. With special expertise in energy efficient lighting, Lam Partners is well qualified to develop environmentally responsible designs and participate in a truly integrated design process. We have designed the lighting for numerous LEED certified projects, including several with LEED Gold or Platinum certification. We practice both locally and internationally, with projects throughout North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The recently completed preservation of The First Church of Christ, Scientist has spanned over eight phases in the course of eight years. The Mother Church sits at the center of the Christian Science Center complex, a 13.5-acre plaza that is the largest privately owned, publicly accessible open space in the City of Boston. Lam Partners principal Glenn Heinmiller was recently appointed by the International Code Council (ICC) to the ICC Commercial Consensus Committee to represent the IALD (International Association of Lighting Designers) in the development of the 2027 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). In this prestigious appointment, Glenn will provide input on updating the IECC for energy efficiency, taking into account items such as cost, energy usage, natural resources, and impact of energy usage on the environment. Congratulations Glenn!

The design of the Tisch Center (aka The Lizzie) at The Frederick Gunn School brings people together by creating a sustainable, contextual, and dynamic space for the future. The building unites diverse learning environments, and it acknowledges different viewpoints and perspectives to turn ideas into action. We love hearing Sasaki designers Marta Guerra-Pastrián and Vinicius Gorgati reflect on the intentions and outcomes of the project and seeing this building teeming with students!
