In this season of giving, we're grateful for the support of local nonprofits and community organizations that uplift our patients and staff at Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center. The Iota Lambda Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., recently delivered 40 thoughtful family baskets to support parents/guardians in the pediatric unit. Each basket included toiletries, healthy snacks, water bottles, puzzle books and a heartfelt "Thinking of You" card. It's the little things that make a big difference.

As we celebrate the season of giving back, we’re reminded of the strength of our community. Thank you to the Rotary Club of Howard West for their donation to our Pediatric Emergency Department’s Child and Adolescent Support Area. Their generous contribution provided children safe and comforting activities to use during their hospital visit.

Take a virtual tour of the Johns Hopkins Howard County Medical Center's new Emergency Department Behavioral Health Unit which opened earlier this month! This expansion project more than tripled the unit's size from 1,500 to 7,000 square feet, increasing capacity from 6 to 24 patients. In this specialized, therapeutic environment, patients receive vital mental and behavioral support they need.
