The Peabody Instituted hosted Guest Week at The Johns Hopkins Hospital Dec. 2-5 as part of it’s Music for a While program. This initiative brings together JHH staff with musical backgrounds and Peabody student musicians to perform in public hospital spaces with a goal to promote wellness and bring joy to patients and hospital staff. “I have always wanted to bring music to hospitals because I think that musicians can connect to people through their music and people can connect to us through their listening through what they feel,” says Lindsey Choung, a Peabody Institute musician and student. “I do think music can be a universal language.”

Congratulations to Elaine Chen, from Zayed 9 West’s Transplant Unit, for being recognized as August’s DAISY Award Winner. Clarissa Felix, a fellow nurse on Zayed 9, nominated Elaine. Clarissa noted that Elaine is “invaluable help” to her team at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and always steps in to offer her support wherever needed. The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that celebrates the skillful, compassionate care nurses provide to patients and families every day. Thank you to Elaine for all your contributions to make JHH a wonderful place to work.

For more than 40 years, Johns Hopkins Medicine has been a leader in clinical care, research and education in the fight against HIV and AIDS. In 1984, The Johns Hopkins Hospital became second in the nation to open a clinic for patients with AIDS, following San Francisco General Hospital. On this World Aids Day, it is an opportunity to reflect on the progress made possible by groundbreaking contributions in advancing care, reducing stigma and supporting those living with HIV and AIDS worldwide. https://bit.ly/4eXgS47

Thank you to mental health advocate April Simpkins, PHR, SHRM-CP who was the keynote speaker at our recent Johns Hopkins Medicine A Woman’s Journey event. We were thankful that she shared her personal story of loss and to broaden awareness of depression.
November 23rd, is a day I will treasure in my heart. Speaking at the Johns Hopkins Medicine A Woman’s Journey event was such an incredible honor, and sharing the life and legacy of my dear Cheslie with a full house of over 500 attendees, including family and friends, touched me to my soul. Thank you to my new friend and chair of Johns Hopkins Medicine A Woman’s Journey, Kelly Ripken who, along with Redonda Miller the president of Johns Hopkins Hospital, graciously presented me with the Distinguished Service Award for my advocacy work. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Leslie Waldman —you are a true gem for all that you did behind the scenes. A special shoutout to my tribe Lynne Girts and Evie Victorson Breidenstein your warm smiles and big hugs eased my nerves. And to my wonderful family in attendance, David and Page, having your support meant everything to me. Lastly, a big thank you to each person who bought a book and shared your stories with me. Wishing you all peace and blessings. I am forever grateful for each of you. #JohnsHopkinsMedicine #AWomansJourney #DistinguishedServiceAward #MentalHealthAdvocate #CheslieKryst
