The Interstruct Team had the honor of participating in a friendly competition with other local design studios to bring cheer to kids who will spend the holidays as residents at AdventHealth for Children. A special thanks to J&J Flooring who has spearheaded Helping Hands since 2016 and now brings decorated trees to 13 hospitals and organizations in 12 cities across the United States. Kids in residence each pick a decorated tree to their room. Our “Giving Tree” celebrates the 50th anniversary of the book. “To incorporate the giving aspect,” said Interstruct’s Debra Willson, “We all donated different gift cards as ornaments.” Architectural associate Isabella Wilhelm 3D printed the tree topper and the little boy with the apple from the book.

Architect-as-developer POV: From the outset of envisioning our Parramore Redevelopment on the West Church Corridor, we earmarked the premium storefront to lease to a tenant. Happy to have Bobby Jones’s Purple Rock Scissors as our friend and neighbor. #designbuild by Interstruct See the full project: https://lnkd.in/eBqk63mB

Our client challenged us to complete their medical office building in six moths. We got it done. Rolling out that compressed timeline meant putting our teams in place before the shell was complete. And then doing what we’re really good at: communicating, planning, problem-solving, streamlining, and using every available minute to our advantage. Healthcare construction has increasingly become a major pillar of our business, both general construction and full design+build projects. If you’ve got a project in mind, let’s talk. Kenneth Hughes, friend of Interstruct, is the new executive director of Parramore Main Street. We have successfully worked with Kenneth and his team for recruiting full-time employees and staffing our projects with construction labor. He, and his parents before him, have been committed to connecting people with jobs in Parramore. He is the right person at the right time to advocate for Parramore’s economic development in tandem with cultivating community and preserving the historic neighborhood’s cultural significance. More in Orlando Business Journal: https://lnkd.in/eeNgE4u4 Congratulations, Kenneth! We look forward to working with you for a better Parramore and #westchurchcorridor.

Phase 2 of Interstruct Design + Build’s Parramore Redevelopment is a shared, outdoor courtyard that reactivates unused space between Interstruct and the neighboring building. This is infill development; Transforming this weed-filled space that once housed only a dumpster into a space for our team and community to relax and connect. Now, it regularly functions as we envisioned when we first realized the potential of this building. This is a piece of the incremental development of the West Church Corridor. Do you have a project that needs a creative approach to achieving its highest and best use? Please reach out to Ryan Young.

Thanks ULI's NEXT Committee for spending some time learning about our process at Interstruct. You are welcome anytime.
This morning’s NEXT Committee Executive Meeting with Ryan Young, AIA and CEO of Interstruct Design + Build was nothing short of inspiring! Ryan shared his unique perspective on design and development, emphasizing his deep commitment to Orlando—not just as a place to build, but as a community to nurture. A highlight of the discussion was his partnership with Jennifer Desire, The Desire Foundation and their community Project 814, a transformative initiative addressing food insecurity and basic necessities in Parramore, one of Orlando’s most vulnerable neighborhoods. Interstruct’s redevelopment project showcases Ryan’s dedication to thoughtful design and good citizenship, serving as a beacon of hope for the community. For those unfamiliar, Ryan founded INTERSTRUCT in 2001, evolving it into a full-service design/build/development company with a clean, modern aesthetic. His passion for revitalizing Central Florida neighborhoods—like the Hourglass District—drives his mission to make modern design more accessible and meaningful. Ryan also showed his VERY impressive design for 802 West Church Street and is looking for a tenant. Thank you, Ryan, for your time, generosity, leadership and continued support of ULI! NEXT members (ages 35-50): Don’t miss out on future meetings like this! These sessions offer invaluable insights and inspiration from industry leaders shaping our city.

Interstruct was on hand for the ceremonial swing of the sledge hammer at SALT Outreach Inc. for the renovation of their new youth and young adult drop-in center. It took a lot of coordination and intricacies to make the budget work and Interstruct Design + Build is pleased to be working with this mission-minded client. SALT is doing good things in the neighborhood to help end youth and young adult homelessness, such as offering mobile showers and laundry service at the Christian Service Center. Now they will have a building of their own. @saltoutreach will be the featured non-profit at our next industry happy hour, January 16, 2025. This building will be fully renovated and furnished by December. Link in bio to learn more about how you can get involved. https://lnkd.in/eS-7vDYb

Interstruct worked with our healthcare client to capitalize unbuilt shell space on the second floor of its very busy Emergency Room in Clermont, Florida. The upper level had been vacant for five years. Now, this location better serves its community. The full-floor medical office buildout includes the first multi-purpose conference room available for use by all suites in the building. Among the many challenges of working in a 24/7 emergency healthcare center was to perform over 100 floor penetrations to accommodate plumbing and floor boxes throughout. Much of our work was directly over the ER nurses’ station, requiring excellent communication and coordination with building personnel to ensure uncompromising standards for patients and the staff while performing all the overhead ceiling work. We also built a state-of-the-art X-ray suite that required an innovative joist mounting system that we successfully used for the first time. To minimize dust and debris, we performed this work within the confines of our mobile ICRA machine. We use this containment system for most medical buildouts in occupied spaces, particularly any that are adjacent to patients in exam or procedure rooms. 🔗 Learn more about our Healthcare Construction specialty: https://lnkd.in/gD6fr23w
