About us

At Headstream, we believe this new digital world, though complex, has all the right ingredients to enable healthy social development and wellbeing. The questions, looming over teenagers today are still more or less the same but the constant connection to technology has changed how teens think about and answer these questions as they grow up. Our challenge, the Headstream Challenge, seeks to find avenues to source and accelerate a cohort of innovators and an ecosystem that rethinks and reshapes social technologies to support teen wellbeing. The Headstream innovators have the ability to inspire and spark a much larger community to harness and shape the future of social technologies. Every young person deserves to experience the rich and positive digital places that give us so much hope.

🌟 Missed our November webinar, "Empowering Student Well-Being with the K-12 Mental Health Tech Navigator"? No worries—you can still catch up on the powerful insights shared by our expert panel! 💬 During the session, we explored groundbreaking approaches to improving youth mental health in schools and beyond: 💡 Empowering Student Voices for Change: “By shifting from 'mental health for youth' to 'mental health with youth,' we empower young leaders to drive transformative, inclusive change.” – Lisa Walker 💡 Community-Centric Mental Well-Being: “You can’t serve a school effectively if you’re not listening to the people you're serving. Students’ voices must matter.” – Denver H. 💡 Comprehensive School Support: “Technology should never replace human connection but instead strengthen existing care systems.” – Andrew Baker 💡 Navigating Stigma Across Communities: “In my community, mental health is often stigmatized. It's seen as something to be prayed away or not taken seriously. This makes it so much harder for students to seek support when they don’t feel safe talking about it at school or at home.” – Ariana Walcott 💡 Addressing Mental Well-Being in K-12 Education: “The K-12 Mental Health Tech Navigator breaks down barriers, guiding schools toward scalable, culturally competent solutions.” – David Ball 💡 Building School-Based Solutions: “By merging the challenges faced by families and educators with practical solutions, we’re not adding more to their plates—we’re showing how these tools can address their needs. It’s about building understanding, reducing stigma, and making mental health support feel like a natural, welcomed part of education.” – 💛 Maria Barrera 💡Redefining Mental Well-Being Funding in Schools: “Schools are already operating as mental health hubs; it’s time we fund them like it.” – Daren Dickson, LMFT Curious to learn how we’re driving these transformative conversations forward? ▶️ Access the full recording and insights TODAY: https://bit.ly/3VD52VS Together, let’s reimagine student mental health and well-being! 🌱✨ #YouthMentalHealth #SchoolMentalHealth #K12Navigator #HeadstreamWebinar #TechForGood #MentalHealthInnovation

Sending gratitude to these leaders in youth mental health. 🌟 In 2020 I had the opportunity to join Headstream Innovation for their accelerator program, during which Neolth launched their mobile app. You can imagine my excitement when I was asked to come back in 2024 as a Resident! For the past few months, they’ve helped me find clarity and confidence in my future. Under their guidance, there’s been so much growth. 💥 In partnership with NBA’s Kenny Thomas, I filmed my first YouTube Series (in studio!) This limited series is launching in January. 💡After significant co-design with youth, I developed a scientific framework for how to create evidence-based content on social media. This has BIG applications for teen mental health and I can’t wait to share more. 😎I had the chance to attend the Behavioral Health Tech conference and meet with other innovators in the space, including the great founders from Welfie Tellmi Maro manatee 💛 Clayful SOMETHINGS 🙌🏻 I worked with advisors to explore the intersection of science and storytelling. I spoke at Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health, Loyola University Chicago about this work and how social media can be used to address implementation challenges in health program delivery. Thank you to all the advisors in this program, especially Jennifer Gendron Matt Faulk Daniela Cruz Greta McAnany Jessica DiVento Dzuban, Psy.D. for their support and insight. Thank you to the Residency Lead, Adina Safer, who was an exceptional mentor. Her approachability, strategic mindset, and genuine committment to the success of the Residents was unparalleled. And thank you to the rest of the team at Headstream who organized this opportunity. We couldn’t have done it without you! Santi D. 🚨 Historic Milestone for Student Mental Health! 🚨 TadHealth, in partnership with Nevada Joint Union High School District, has achieved a groundbreaking moment by successfully submitting the first-ever claim under California's Children and Youth Behavioral Health Initiative (CYBHI). This submission marks a pivotal step toward transforming mental health services for children and youth statewide. Tim Reid, Director of Pupil Services at Nevada Joint Union High School District, shared the significance of this moment: “This initiative gives schools like ours the tools to address the mental health crisis while securing funding to support students holistically. ”With CYBHI’s innovative funding model, schools now have a lifeline to sustain critical staffing, provide student support, and expand programs—even in the face of budget challenges. This historic claim, submitted through Carelon on November 25, 2024, proves CYBHI’s effectiveness and scalability, paving the way for schools across California. Ben Greiner, TadHealth Founder & CEO, reflects: “This is about more than mental health—it’s about creating a better future for our schools, communities, and state.” TadHealth is proud to lead the charge in ensuring that every student in California has access to the mental health resources they deserve. Together, we’re building a brighter future for education and wellness. 🔗 Learn more about this historic milestone in our press release: https://bit.ly/4ghm4kq #MentalHealth #CYBHI #InnovationInEducation #StudentWellness #TadHealth #CaliforniaSchools
