Feeding people facing hunger today and solving hunger for tomorrow. Every year, nearly 40% of our country's food ends up in landfills while millions of people go hungry. Food Lifeline rescues and redistributes healthy, nutritious food to people in need. We receive millions of pounds of surplus food from farmers, manufacturers, grocery stores, restaurants, and retailers every year. Our Hunger Solution Center, completed in 2016, has 190,000 square feet of space to hold this rescued food before volunteers sort and repack it. Food Lifeline then delivers it to more than 350 food banks, shelters, and meal programs throughout Western Washington - providing 280,000 meals every to our most vulnerable community members. At the same time, we are working to solve hunger for future by advocating for change and partnering with other organizations and agencies dedicated to ending hunger. The Hunger Solution Center is a hub for innovation and partnership that allows our community to join the movement to end hunger. We convene people at all levels to mobilize efforts that address hunger and other measures of poverty. It is easy and effective to donate your food, funds, voice, or time towards ending hunger. Visit FoodLifeline.org and find out how you can get involved.

There are only a few days left to make a 2024 year-end gift! ✨ 🔗 Donate here: https://lnkd.in/g2yezaKV Food insecurity is on the rise, with agency visits up 20% over the last year. With your donations, we can make sure people have access to the foods they need, by sourcing and delivering food that helps create more than 164,000 meals every day for our nearly 300 food bank, shelter, and meal program partners across Western Washington. These partners then distribute this food to families, children, seniors, and individuals experiencing food insecurity. We’re also working to end hunger for tomorrow by investing in programs designed to dismantle the systems and policies that foster and perpetuate food insecurity by tackling poverty, racial inequity, and social injustice. Together, we can support and empower communities to not only survive but thrive. Join us as we grow a movement to end hunger. 🌱

We're grateful for our partnership with Washington State Department of Agriculture! This is a great explanation of how millions of pounds of food are distributed through our state each month as part of the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP).
🍎 The Washington State Department of Agriculture (WSDA) is crucial in supporting food banks and warehouses statewide, helping fight hunger and food insecurity. Through the Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP), WSDA distributes millions of pounds of food to over 800,000 people each month, reaching communities large and small. With a decentralized system and key partnerships, WSDA ensures food reaches those who need it most. This holiday season, consider giving back to your community by supporting food banks through donations and volunteering—the gift of time and food can make a world of difference. Together, we're working to eliminate hunger and support those facing tough times. Hunger Doesn't Have To Happen Kids remind us just how important food is. Last week they talked and we listened. 💬 “When I have enough to eat, I can think. I can listen. I can run.” 💬 “When I’m hungry, I can’t play.” At our organization, we’re working to ensure that no one has to worry about hunger. Together, we can make a difference. #FoodLifeline #HungerDoesntHaveToHappen #EndHunger #FoodInsecurity #KidsDeserveBetter #FoodForAll
