Leading the effort to end hunger through partnership, education, advocacy, and distribution of nutritious food.

About us

Food Bank of Central New York is a not-for-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through nutritious food distribution, education and advocacy in cooperation with the community. We partner with 371 different member programs, 261 of those are emergency programs and 110 are non-emergency in the counties of Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, and St. Lawrence. We have been helping the hungry since 1985, as the main food supplier to the emergency food network. Working with a diverse group, our member programs include soup kitchens, food pantries and emergency shelters, as well as child-care agencies, neighborhood and senior centers. We collaborate with businesses, private foundations, and governments to simply get the job done. Together, we are providing millions of dollars worth of food every month to the central New York region. Together, we can solve hunger. Food Bank of Central New York is a member of Feeding America. We can’t continue the battle against hunger without help from the people and corporations in the communities we serve. If you‘d like to help in any way – from volunteering your free time to setting up a fundraising program in your company—please contact the Food Bank today at 315-437-1899.

Updates

  • Food Bank staff recently surprised former Board Member and Executive Director, Thomas Slater, with a conference room named in his honor. Tom served as our Executive Director from 1995 to 2013. Family and friends came together to celebrate his legacy and unveil the new space, speaking to his neighbor-first mindset, faith, and ambition in the face of adversity. "Tom was a trailblazer, building a foundation constructed of compassion and innovation. He surrounded himself with individuals with the same core values, many of whom are still employed at the Food Bank, continuing his legacy," shared Executive Director, Karen Belcher. 💛🍏 Special thanks to Feeding America's President & Chief Operating Officer, Linda Nageotte, for her video presentation honoring Tom!
