About us
Everytable is a Los Angeles-based social enterprise that is defining the future of food. Our mission is to make fresh, nutritious meals affordable for everyone. Meals are made fresh from scratch each day at our central kitchen and sold through small footprint, Everytable company-operated stores. In 2019 we launched two new distribution channels to reach even more people across Los Angeles: a meal subscription service where customers can have Everytable delivered to their door or ready for pick-up on a weekly basis; and the Everytable SmartFridge, a tech-enabled vending machine we're placing at offices buildings, college campuses, medical buildings, etc. and keep it fully stocked with Everytable meals; employees just swipe a credit card and pick the meals of their choice! We are well-funded, with a results-oriented management team that is determined to build a lasting business that solves a major social problem.

A follower of mine and Everytable sent me this TikTok post, and I thought it was incredibly poignant. It's a Dad working hard as an Uber Driver. He's got a clear goal -- $150 per day -- that can take care of his family and pay down his $30k+ in student debt. Man does he hustle. What I loved about this was just watching someone take responsibility to provide and work. Looks like his wife drive's Uber, too, clearly a partnership built around hard work. It also shows just how tough it is out there for folks to make ends meet. And what truly touched me, is that in the middle of his day delivering food to people, where does he stop for lunch? Everytable. Where he meets his wife. They have a moment together. They get a great, scratch-cooked meal. Easily the best value out there. Want a quick lesson in restaurant economics? As you can see below, a critical metric for restaurants is Average Unit Volume (AUV), the average annual sales per store. Isn't it crazy that every Chik-Fil-A store does $7M+? Raising Cane's $5M+! But AUV is only the first of three important metrics. The second is profit margin. And the third is build out cost. And then you put those three metrics together into the only equation that really matters: Return on Invested Capital = (AUV x Profit Margin) / Buildout Cost. If you've got a high revenue concept, but it's not super profitable, and it costs a lot to build, then you are not really making money on each investment. Conversely, if you have a low revenue concept, but it generates a high profit margin, and doesn't cost a lot to build, then you can make a ton of money on each investment. That's why even though Jersey Mike's is on the lower-end of this list, it just sold for $8B! Their numbers aren't public, but you can be sure that Blackstone saw low buildout cost and high profit margin at each store. And the last factor that really matters is SSS%, which is Same Store Sales Growth per year. Because if your concept's revenue is growing, much of the cost of running a restaurant, like lease payments and insurance and utilities, are fixed. Also buildout cost is fixed -- ie doesn't go up. So as sales go up, profit margins go up, and ROIC goes up! Now, where does Everytable sit in all this? Our AUV is toward the lower end. But our buildout cost is probably the lowest on this list. And because of our super-efficient labor-model, our profit margins are high. So Everytable has excellent ROIC. What's even more interesting is that Everytable has a bunch of different revenue streams running through our stores...consumers buying lunch, stocking up for the week, 3rd Party Marketplaces like DoorDash and Uber Eats, weekly subscriptions, and also a whole host of b2b business including catering, meals on wheels, medically tailored meals, school food, etc. And all of those have extremely high growth potential. Over time, Everytable should be able to grow our AUVs...not to Raising Cane's Chik Fil A levels, but certainly middle of the pack. And because our buildout costs are low, and we have a lot of fixed costs, our ROIC should be extremely high. But I'm obviously biased. And, as they used to say on Wall Street, "talking my book."
