I’m proud to be featured in Real Leaders Q4 magazine alongside CIONIC, Enable Ventures’ portfolio company, on how we are building an inclusive economy together. Our goal as an investment firm is to close the disability wealth gap through investment. The largest untapped talent pool hiding in plain sight is people with disabilities who have the opportunity to generate great value in the labor force. Companies like Cionic are building breakthrough innovations that have the power to uplift and support people with disabilities into the mainstream of community life and the economy.    I want to thank Jeremiah Robison, Founder of CIONIC, for our continued successful partnership, and Real Leaders for recognizing their outstanding work in neurotechnology. I had the esteemed honor last week to serve as a panelist and as a Commitment Certificate Presenter at the Clinton Global Initiative 2024 Annual Meeting.   Firstly, I was honored to participate in the ‘Innovation in Job Creation: The Business Case for Inclusive Economic Opportunity’ session alongside change-makers Andrew Kuper of LeapFrog Investments and Dr. Jason Naidich, SVP and Chief Innovation and Learning Officer, Northwell Health, moderated by the eminent Ruth Simon of The Wall Street Journal. I would also like to thank Acting Secretary Julie Su, U.S. Department of Labor, for elevating the importance of our discussion on leveraging job creation and workforce development to create equitable economic opportunities.   Secondly, I proudly introduced a group of inspiring leaders who announced Clinton Global Initiative Commitments to Action to increase equity and opportunity for job seekers in the United States and in countries around the world. I want to thank Maria Flynn of Jobs for the Future (JFF), Luis Sandoval of Building Skills Partnership, Andrew Glazier of Defy Ventures, Léa Klein of makesense and Yash Ranga of Pyxera Global; and of course Brandon Andrews, CEO of The Inexorable, for moderating inspiring conversations about implementing creative solutions to advance economic security for many of the hundreds of millions of people who face barriers to entering the workforce or who will need reskilling, upskilling, and support in this rapidly shifting environment.   We are thrilled that Enable Ventures was able to play such a pivotal role at #CGI2024Meeting and share the stage with distinguished enterprises, investors and ecosystem partners who are all striving to implement real systems change.

Appearing live on ‘The Close’ on Bloomberg TV is not a bad way to spend a Friday, as Enable Ventures was featured in their ‘Next Up’ segment – which highlights entrepreneurs and founders moving the needle for our economy, markets and technology!   I spoke with Scarlet Fu about the excitement around the emerging technology that is helping to close the disability wealth gap and how we are in such a unique moment in the capital markets as never before have we had such self-identification of disability coupled with the hunger for new technologies to advance solutions in this market.   In our conversation I underscored the significance of responsible tech that is designed in concert with those closest to the challenges and the great power it enables to make real systems change. I'm thrilled to announce that Enable Ventures has invested in Mindset Care's $13 million financing round. Mindset Care is a groundbreaking company that is democratizing and strengthening access to the Social Security Disability benefits program.    The Social Security application process has long been needlessly complicated and analog, and yet the program is a cornerstone of our system of basic income security and, further, access to health care.    This investment reflects our profound conviction that responsible tech designed in concert with those closest to the problem has the great power to improve access to vital government programs and to bolster the public system's approach to its customers.    I am excited to work closely with Mindset Care's visionary Founder Darren Webb, as he continues his work in transforming access points to Social Security for the approximately 16 million people who apply for benefits annually, by working to substantially reduce administrative time and burden in applications.    Darren, who has been caregiver for a loved one with schizophrenia for the last 15 years, founded the company last year. When he tried to get this person back on disability benefits after they were released from incarceration, he got in touch with local attorneys and was inundated with about two to three pounds of paperwork to fill out and send back. Mindset Care is on course to relieve these burdens and drive true systems change.
