About us
The Elmhurst Park District was established on June 5, 1920 and consists of 468 acres encompassing 28 parks featuring 18 playgrounds, 12 picnic areas, 68 athletic fields, and 5.5 miles of trail. The District owns and operates a number of facilities, including Courts Plus Fitness Center, East End Pool, Norman P. Smalley Pool, The Hub at Berens Park, and Wilder Park Conservatory. The District also operates Sugar Creek Golf Course as part of a cooperative agreement with the Village of Villa Park.

As of November 5, 2024, unofficial results indicate that a majority of Elmhurst Park District voters answered “yes” to the bond referendum request to raise revenue to improve, equip and maintain parks and facilities throughout the District, including replacing the Wagner Community Center; building a community bandshell at Wilder Park; adding permanent, heated restrooms at three parks and along the Prairie Path; and converting a grass field to artificial turf at Berens Park. One of the Park District’s most vibrant partnerships was recognized earlier this month when the Ray Graham Association (RGA) honored Elmhurst Park District with its Monarch Effect Award during their Appreciation and Achievement Awards. The RGA award celebrated the well-established partnership between the two organizations and thanked the Park District for its vision that always includes people with disabilities.
