Building Energy Intelligence
About us
Elexity's energy management system is like no other: coordinated real-time optimization of solar, HVAC, batteries, EV charging and grid services. Building's must become virtual power plants with intelligent energy control if the world is going to operate a modern, clean energy grid. Period. "Load flexibility is the giant issue nobody is talking about. It's less expensive than batteries and discussed often as "another" means of matching solar resources with a building's loads. Elexity's load-flexibility software is a win-win for the solar contractor and the building owner." -- Jigar Shah, Co-Founder at Generate Capital Inc "New fossil-fuel-burning, polluting power plants are being built every day in America. Any building owner or manager with a conscience should at least be considering technologies like Elexity's DemandEx." -- Lindsay Baker, Global Head, Sustainability & Impact at WeWork "As we move forward toward building an electric grid 100% powered by clean energy, load flexibility becomes more important than ever. Innovation solutions that make energy demand more nimble and support the reliability of the electric grid will be the foundation of the energy system of the future." --David Hochschild, Chair, California Energy Commission

Wow, do we appreciate the shoutout from CONCERT! Smart building technology isn't just for the biggest, fanciest buildings. Elexity is committed to finding affordable and effective energy solutions for commercial buildings.
Digital twins have often been touted as a cutting-edge solution for sustainability, promising real-time data from buildings to help optimize energy use, space utilization and more. But when we talk about digital twins, especially in the context of the built environment, there’s often an immediate association with complex Building Information Models (BIMs), which provide static geometry rather than actionable insights. This assumption creates a divide: the perception that only the most advanced buildings with the biggest budgets can benefit from digital twins. The reality is much simpler and more practical. Every building can and should support basic IoT interactivity, starting small and scaling up based on value. This doesn’t require monumental investments or complex technology stacks. In fact, companies like Elexity and VergeSense are already offering cost-effective solutions that provide immediate, measurable benefits. Instead of fixating on a comprehensive digital replica, we should focus on the basic capabilities that can deliver the most value right now. Elexity creates a feedback loop in the HVAC system—one of the largest energy consumers in any building. By equipping a building with basic sensors to monitor and adjust heating and cooling in real time, building managers can create a virtual power plan with minimal upfront investment. Space utilization is another area where cost-effective IoT solutions can make a difference. VergeSense offer non-invasive sensors that track how spaces are being used, providing valuable data for optimizing occupancy and resource allocation. These types of solutions allow for incremental value without overwhelming cost structures. These smaller, more accessible capabilities lay the groundwork for sustainability and should be considered the starting point for any building, old or new. Once these systems are in place, building owners can assess whether more advanced digital twin solutions—those that combine digital representation with real-time building data—are necessary. But let’s not allow the high-end digital twin conversation to distract from the fact that every building can benefit from basic IoT interactivity today. https://loom.ly/9HoU_Jc #architects #engineers #digitaltwins #realestate

Do solar projects reduce peak demand? Usually, but 'usually' isn't good enough. Here's an example of 1yr worth of solar generation from a site in California. The big drop-outs in generation are obvious, and occur almost every month. When the solar drops out, the grid load spikes, and that sets your demand charge. And in many utilities, especially California and the northeast, demand charges >50% of your total annual bill! Elexity's Energy Management Platform helps you avoid those peaks by using load control. With real-time management of your HVAC and EV chargers, we can avoid setting peak loads, and you'll see your solar project reach payback up to 30% faster. #batteries #loadflexibility #solar #hvac

Commercial buildings’ distributed energy can be a major asset in utilities’ attempts to modernize the grid - but only with the right tools, like virtual power plants (VPPs). Elexity enables the pooling together of these resources in VPPs. VPPs are a great way to harness distributed energy to drive the U.S. energy transition. Elexity enables that connection for building managers, making it possible for them to reduce their energy costs. What would energy management solutions like ours that can plug DERs into VPPs look like on a national level? Learn more on how VPPs can be rolled out nationwide from Jeff St. John and Canary Media Inc. https://lnkd.in/gWapSSHF #VPPs #EnergyManagement #CleanEnergy
