We do not have a sustainable waste system in the United States. We have about 17 years left of landfill capacity, and we need to make investments to reduce the waste we are producing as a society. We also need to provide the infrastructure necessary to have sustainable solutions that provide long term solutions to waste, not just short term. My kids are getting old enough to really understand what me and my husband Nick Whitman do for work, so it was super special for our 10 year old to travel with Nick to Divert's stunning new clean energy facility in California. We're encouraged to see New York taking steps to expand organic waste diversion with S5331, signed by Governor Hochul on December 12. 📃👏 This legislation expands the diversion requirements to new waste generators across the state to encourage more diversion participation. We look forward to working with stakeholders to shape implementation so that New York businesses can comply and meet their ESG goals.
