DENMARK IS OFFICIALLY AN ELECTED MEMBER OF THE UN SECURITY COUNCIL 🕊️ This New Year’s Day, we are truly honored to take our seat on the Security Council. Throughout the term of 2025-2026 we will work hard to live up to this huge responsibility and uphold the higher principles of the UN Charter. In a time of multiple global crises and growing polarization, Denmark remains as committed as ever to rules-based multilateralism. We will do our part with a pragmatism and preparedness to work together to promote international peace and security, and to protect and respect human rights and dignity. The world needs a Council that reflects the world of today which is more fit to address the current and coming crises across the globe. Denmark will push for a more accountable, effective, inclusive, and representative Security Council. We look forward to the cooperation with our colleagues in and outside the Council on issues concerning peace and security for people and planet. #un #unsc

Next year, Denmark will enter the UN Security Council for the fifth time in history as an elected member.  On this matter, we are more than happy with history repeating itself 📜 Denmark’s term of 2025-2026 is a testament to our strong and longstanding commitment to international cooperation. As a founding member of the United Nations, we have championed the organization’s core values, work and visions since 1945 - when Diplomat Henrik Kauffmann signed the UN Charter on behalf of Denmark. We have served on the Council in 1953–1954, 1967–1968, 1985–1986, and 2005-2006. A time span from UN Secretary-Generals Dag Hammarskjöld to Kofi Annan. Through decades where the world has changed significantly, where crises have emerged and evolved and some resolved, and where new opportunities have opened up. Solving global challenges remains and requires a shared responsibility. We are still prepared to do our part. At the Danish Mission we are honored to be here for the fifth chapter of Denmark in the Security Council. And we will rest assured over the holidays that we are ready to serve once again, starting on New Year’s Day. 🎞️ UN Photo

  • New direct flights, modern hotels, and cultural heritage attractions ✈️ These are some of the reasons Denmark is the Scandinavian American travel destination for 2025, according to Forbes. American tourism to Denmark has reached record-breaking numbers this year, surpassing one million bed nights in the first ten months of 2024. Next year sees even better connections between the U.S. and the Danish capital, with SAS - Scandinavian Airlines launching a direct route from Seattle to Copenhagen and Delta Air Lines launching a route between Minneapolis and Copenhagen. Both of these regions have significant Scandinavian communities. “For many Americans, particularly those with Scandinavian heritage, a journey to Denmark is more than a vacation—it’s a meaningful connection to cultural roots,” explains Senior Contributor David Nikel in Forbes. ⚛️ Quantum quests in Silicon Valley and Colorado ⚛️ This year’s announcements at the #Q2B24SV conference in areas such as error corrections, scalability and applications showed just how fast quantum technologies are moving. The Danish input included our newly developed use case catalogue as well as presentations from Kvantify's Ulrich Hoff on provable exponential quantum speed-up for machine learning; from Deep Tech Lab - Quantum's Cathal J. Mahon on learnings from the first year of operations as a NATO DIANA accelerator for dual-use start-ups; and from Louise Henneberg from our #InternationalQuantumHub on the achievements of the first year of the Danish quantum strategy. Direct engagement with the tech industry on geopolitical as well as technological reflections is a key part of the Danish #techplomacy We spent much of the week meeting with and visiting exciting quantum and tech companies – thank you to NVIDA, PsiQuantum, Atom Computing, Quantinuum and Maybell Quantum for showing us around your spaces and taking part in frank and open discussions on the future of quantum technology – including where we should be promoting, protecting or partnering. Finally, we visited Colorado which is host to a large number of quantum labs and companies – with more than 3000 employees in quantum-related jobs. Thank you to Governor Jared Polis for hosting us. Cooperation between Danish researchers and companies and their counterparts from Colorado is already well underway and we discussed good opportunities for expanding further to build our shared trusted quantum ecosystem. • When commercial AI comes to life! Last week, our Investment Manager Astrid Kvist Jensen delved into the world of applied artificial intelligence at the AI Summit New York. This was an opportunity to network with industry leaders and gain first-hand experience with the AI innovations that will transform the future. “Reflecting on the insightful discussions from the conference, I’m reminded of the dual-sided nature of generative AI. While we often focus on the risks, it's just as important to highlight the positive impact it can have,” Astrid says. Among the many inspiring speakers, Matthew Fraser, CTO of the City of New York, stood out. He highlighted how AI can expand access to essential services and create new opportunities for public service improvements across New York City. “These conversations highlight the potential of AI, not just as a technology, but as a catalyst for positive change,” Astrid continues. Invest in Denmark actively participates in top conferences like The AI Summit Series, to turn insights about AI into investment opportunities within Denmark's world-class tech ecosystem. #DenmarkinNY #InvestinDenmark #AI The AI Summit Series | Astrid Kvist Jensen | Thomas Jørgensen | Invest in Denmark | Denmark In New York
