Gratitude. Community. Connection. Family. As we move through the season of giving thanks, the National Adoption Association (NAA) invites you to pause and reflect on the power of family, connection, and community. This time of year is a reminder not only to express gratitude but also to give ourselves the space to breathe, reflect, and honor the meaningful connections that shape our lives. At the heart of our mission is the belief that every child deserves the love and security of a family, and every family deserves the support of a caring community. Together, we can continue to build spaces where love, inclusion, and belonging thrive. This season, we give thanks for the families who open their hearts, the communities that support them, and the moments of connection that bring us closer to one another. Let’s also extend gratitude inward—giving ourselves grace to pause, reflect, and center the love and light we hope to share with the world. 🌟 In gratitude, in reflection, in connection—we are stronger together. With gratitude and grace, The National Adoption Association (NAA) #GratitudeSeason #GivingThanks #PowerOfPause #BuildingFamilies #NAACares

For 20 years, we’ve collaborated with AdoptUSKids and U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to encourage prospective parents to explore adoption from foster care. We’re thrilled to announce that our campaign has contributed to over 1 million adoptions! Today, we’re excited to debut our latest film, developed by Edelman which highlights the incredible journeys of adoptive families and the profound rewards they’ve discovered along the way. Dear Members and Child Welfare Community, As we step into National Adoption Month, we enter a time to celebrate the families formed through adoption while also acknowledging the profound complexities within these journeys. Adoption is a unique blend of love and loss, joy and grief—a duality that holds deep meaning in the work we do. At the National Adoption Association, we embrace an approach that honors every dimension of this journey. Our philosophy, “adoption is addition, not subtraction,” reflects our commitment to preserving the vital connections and relationships that help shape an adoptee’s sense of identity and belonging. We understand that this month resonates differently for everyone touched by adoption. For some, it brings the joy of family and togetherness; for others, it may stir memories of loss, change, and relationships left behind. For our Native and Indigenous communities, it highlights the importance of upholding ICWA and similar protections that sustain cultural heritage and belonging. In our work, we seek to hold space for this full spectrum of emotions and experiences, honoring the complexity of each story. As we observe this month together, let us remember that honoring adoption means embracing every layer—the beautiful and the complex. With compassion, we remain committed to practices that uplift every voice and experience, ensuring that adoptees retain connections that matter most, including those that may be challenging. Warm regards, National Adoption Association

Kasserian Ingera? “And how are the children.…” “Sepati Ingera” means “the children are well.” But I ask, Are they truly? This is a driving key question that set us at National Adoption Association on a journey of exploring what can we do to ensure they are truly well. On this journey, with 43 #ujima leaders… the circle remains unbroken….Here we are discussing this driving questions at the The Aspen Institute’s Opportunity Youth Forum in Aspen, CO.
