The job market is tough right now, especially as we near the end of the year. So how can you break into climate jobs effectively? Let's unpack the real strategy. According to recent career research: ‣ 85% of jobs are filled through networking (LinkedIn Global Talent Trends Report) ‣ Climate sector professionals report 65% of their roles came through personal connections ‣ Informational interviews lead to job opportunities 1 in 3 times (Harvard University Business Review) Clearly, having a strong network is the best way to get a job. Here are 5 tips on how you can become better at authentic networking: 🤝 Customize each connection request with a specific, genuine reason for reaching out. 🤝 Focus on 3-5 meaningful conversations monthly versus 50 surface-level connections. 🤝 Offer value first—share insights, introduce connections, or provide helpful resources. 🤝 Send a thoughtful follow-up within 48 hours of any professional interaction 🤝 Ensure your LinkedIn, resume, and verbal communications tell a coherent climate career story Pro Tip: The most successful networkers spend 5-7 hours monthly on intentional professional relationship building. Ready to transform your professional connections into climate action? The Climatebase Fellowship provides unparalleled networking opportunities and industry connections. Limited spots available—apply now to unlock your climate career potential! #ClimateNetworking #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalDevelopment

A special shoutout to an inspiring group of Fellowship Alumni—the “Community Facilitators”—who continue to pay it forward in incredible ways. As moderators of Accountability Groups, these alumni have shared their insights and offered continuous support to groups of Fellows to help them navigate their climate journeys and goals. By giving back and leading with generosity, these “Community Facilitators” perfectly exemplify what it means to be a Climatebase Fellow - giving more than you receive! Some months ago I was selected as a Climatebase Cohort 6 fellow. This 12-week program deeply transformed the way I see myself and the world. Now that some days have passed since the closing event 🥹, I want to celebrate having completed it! 🥳 #lifelonglearning #achievement When the fellowship started, I was only expecting to learn about climate solutions and to get a certificate to help me in a career transition, but I ended up completely changing my ideas for the future, as I met inspiring people from all around the world, committed to climate and social justice, and willing to put a lot of work for a better planet. This was an emotional experience, as many keynotes and sessions (Vesselina Apostolova, Magda Kufrej and Paul Paz y Miño) brought me to tears from all the hope, compassion and courage they put in my heart ❤️ Among the experiences I gathered (and treasure) are: 💡 Leading a Capstone project for climate policy literacy and analysis, working together with SriPallavi N. and Andrea Campos Rubio ✍ Finding a friend, Burcu Gürel, with whom to be brave, creative and fun, to build some online presence writing about climate 🌈 Taking part of the Climate Consulting Guild led by Heidi Harting-Rex and Daniel Muccino, which gave me the biggest inspiration and confidence boost, allowing me to work together with- and be adviced by amazing people like Kieran Campbell, Rob Luciano, Mike Zertuche, Marsha Barancik, Jillian Prusa, Myriah Juarez-Wagner, Aishwarya Sapkota and Prateek Srivastava 🌟 Being lucky to meet knowledgable and generous people with whom I can continue planning the future, like Vikrant Kahlir and Susannah Hill, MBA 🦋 Being transformed by the open hearts, motivating stories, advice and visions for the future shared by some of the amazing Climatebase fellows, like Caetie Ofiesh, Tovah Cook, Yixin Sun, Katie Chess, Taiseer Ibrahem, Eli U., Enrique Huerta, Jeffrey Y., Mira Hapsari, Stacy Smith, Isabella Lang, Guillermina L. Pelaez, Caroline Wu, Alex Trickey, Sharline Liu, Keith Weng, Usha K., Elsa Higby (there's many more, but I've reached the limit! 😧 ). You're amazing, smart and kind, and I can't wait to see where you go next! 🌱 Planting the seeds for a Climatebase community in my home country with Amal K. and Therese Marie Peters 🏆 Being recognized as an "innovator" and as an "uplifter" I'll probably keep writing about this experience in the future, but for now I'd like to end by giving my deep appreciation to the amazing Climatebase staff, speakers and educators. It's been a wonderful experience! ❤️ PS: If you're interested in becoming a Climatebase fellow, contact me for a little discount 😉

🌱 Gratitude for Our Team 🌱 As Cohort 6 of the Climatebase Fellowship comes to a close, we want to take a moment to express heartfelt gratitude to the incredible team that has supported Materia Chemistries on our journey. The progress we've made would not have been possible without the dedication, brilliance, and passion of this community. More than 50 talented individuals from Climatebase (and beyond) expressed interest in collaborating with us. Narrowing down our core team was no small task, but we are so grateful for the outstanding group that came together to advance our mission of AI-accelerated discovery of entirely new materials to enable climate technologies. 🧪 Science Advisory Board Tristan Ursell: For entertaining the art of the possible while keeping us grounded in scientific reality. Na Li, PhD: For bringing deep domain expertise in materials science and the realities of scientific research. Kun Zhao: For exploring real world, actionable ways to apply our technology. 🚀 Product Team Gregory Billington: For diving head first into any ambiguous commercial problem Kyle could come up with. Cyrus Anderson: For bringing deep industry knowledge and an incredible action-oriented approach to the complexities of the chemicals industry. 🧮 Algorithms Andreana Rosnik, Ph.D.: For helping Aajan feel seen by debating Bayesian sampling methods. ✨ And a heartfelt thank you to a few other Climatebase Fellows who lent their expertise along the way: Joe Rittenhouse, Danny Kirk, and Eric Wallace-Deering! Thank you all for being part of our story. 🙏 #Climatebase #Teamwork #Gratitude #ClimateTech #MaterialsScience #AI #ThankYou

We wrapped Cohort 6 of the Climatebase Fellowship a few weeks back. After taking some time offline to rest, travel, and turn 30 (!!), I returned to my desk in Brooklyn feeling grounded and proud of the Climatebase community. I have a print pinned up on the wall directly across from where I work; it reads: A better world is possible. I’m grateful to be surrounded by people who not only believe this but who act on it every single day. To play a part in amplifying the voices of those committed to this world-building is an immense honor. Over the past two cohorts, we hosted over 235 speakers to share their expertise, experiences, and visions for our shared future with our dedicated Fellows. Ayisha Siddiqa, William McDonough, Paul Paz y Miño, Tzeporah Berman, Jonathan Foley, Valerie Kapos, Dana R. Fisher, Davida Herzl, Sophie Purdom, Constantino Aucca Chutas, Florent Kaiser, Sanchali Pal, Don Hankins, Caroline Spears, Jason Huang, Dana Gunders, Daniela V. Fernandez, and so many others have inspired us and equipped our community with insights they’ll use to find their place in this work. Though I can’t list all 235+ of our guests here, each of them has my sincere gratitude. To learn more about all of these wonderful people, you can check out the weekly posts we shared on the Climatebase page. And, of course, I want to thank the mighty team and collaborators who steadfastly contribute their talents to building something better: Vesselina Apostolova, Aaron Pins, Lucas Camacho, Evan Hynes, Justin Hardin, Jesse Hynes, Yassine Hamdouni, Morgan Campbell, Lyla Warren, João Paulo Rodrigues Pereira, Julian Moore, Dicky Indrayan, Neil Yeoh, Matthias Muehlbauer, David P., and Magda Kufrej. You all are ⭐s.
