Clear Path for Veterans is pleased to announce its new Chief Executive Officer, Marine Corps Veteran Ryan Woodruff! Woodruff was previously the Chief Program Officer for the organization. Woodruff began his career at Clear Path as a Peer Support Specialist and during that time, received services himself as he was transitioning from military life to civilian life. Woodruff said, “Having personally felt the profound impact of Clear Path for Veterans' programs, I am truly honored to lead our organization into this next chapter. To our veterans, families, community members, and beloved canines, my commitment is to prioritize YOU as we continue to build upon the incredible work we’re passionate about. Together, we’ll thrive and achieve even more for our community.” When receiving help through Clear Path after his military service, Woodruff was a participant of the Canine Program, where he was connected with a service dog. That’s when he discovered his passion for training service dogs and placing them with veterans. He attended a canine training school and became a nationally certified trainer and would go on to be the Director of the Canine Program. In his most recent role, Woodruff has focused on growing the canine program, along with the peer and family support program and career services. Chief Community Officer Alex Behm, who previously held the role of Executive Director, said, “Ryan is an exceptional leader whose unwavering commitment to excellence and innovative thinking will guide Clear Path into its next chapter. I have every confidence that under Ryan’s stewardship, we will continue to deliver superior programs and services to veterans and their families. His deep understanding of our values and vision makes Ryan the perfect choice to lead us forward.” Woodruff served in the United States Marine Corps in the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment. He was deployed twice to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom as an infantry rifleman. Woodruff received his Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry. Meet Robin Fish, a dedicated volunteer in our Canine Program at Clear Path for Veterans! Robin splits her time as a Puppy Ambassador during the week, caring for service dogs in training at the Puppy Development Center, and as a Flex Foster on weekends, bringing pups home to help them acclimate to a family environment. Robin loves seeing the progress of each dog and says volunteering helps her get her 'dog fix' while making a difference. Her family also enjoys the experience! We have some very exciting news! 🐾 Hero Dogs' Elsie delivered a healthy litter of seven puppies! Clear Path's canine team will raise and train these purpose-bred puppies and place them at no cost with veterans diagnosed with post-traumatic stress (PTS) and traumatic brain injury (TBI). Melissa Saari is a partner of the canine program for the past 5 years. She has helped a number of successful Clear Path for Veterans service dogs and we are forever thankful for her love and care for Elsie. The ability to partner with Melissa Saari has been a vital part of the canine program and Clear Path's mission to enhance the lives of veterans. We are proud to be a part of ADI - Assistance Dogs International's North American Breeding Cooperative and that we had the opportunity to host Elsie from Hero Dogs! September is National Service Dog Month and training our service pups means lots of new experiences! 🐾 Guardians in our Canine Program help service dogs-in-training get accustomed to new environments by participating in group outings. These experiences are critical for the pups’ training and growth. Recent field trips have included a visit to Hancock Airport (where the dogs went through security), a tour of the Stickley Museum (pictured here), and a walk around Destiny Mall!
