Local government executives: Are you ready to walk through these doors and be ready to deliver the budget recommendation next year for Clay County MO ?! Great opportunity to follow a pro administrator who has done much for improving processes and professionalism. Join a great team as part of KC metro (much of the County population includes KCMO). County seat is great town of City of Liberty, Missouri (which has at least one great downtown brewery). County Constitution provides good structure and roles. The position announcement will come out after first of January 2025. Look for it and apply through the SGR website. Contact me for questions and why you should look to lead here with the County Commission. • Several Clay County employees were given the opportunity to experience the Emerging Leaders Academy through the University of Kansas Public Management Center. They graduated on Friday, December 13th, and we couldn't be prouder of the paths they are setting out on here in Clay County and beyond!

  • 🎉 As 2024 comes to a close, we’re saying farewell to a true legend. After 21 incredible years with Clay County, Lee Pogue is retiring! Lee’s dedication and talent have been unmatched, and he’ll be deeply missed by our maintenance and facilities team (and everyone else, too). Thank you, Lee, for your years of service and hard work! Wishing you a relaxing and enjoyable retirement—though we hope you’re staying off ladders and away from paintbrushes in your free time! 🛠️🎨

  • The U.S. Bicycle Route System (USBRS) is adding four new routes in three states, including Missouri and Clay County. This is following an approved proposal brought forth to the commission back in January 2024. USBR 51 in Missouri begins at US 69 at the Missouri / Iowa state border and ends on US 71 at the Missouri / Arkansas state border connecting to USBR 51 in Arkansas. This route establishes USBR 51 as a north-south bicycle route through the state of Missouri with no gaps. The Missouri Bicycle and Pedestrian Federation worked diligently with the local entities throughout the state to provide a continuous route through the state of Missouri. The route has segments utilizing Missouri state and local roadways as well as established trails and facilities including the Katy Trail, Watkins Woolen Mill State Park, Corps of Engineers at Truman Lake, Swinging Bridge Trail, and Frisco Highline Trail. • Thanks to the efforts of our commissioners responsibly obligating the entire American Rescue Plan Act funds back into the county, we were able to focus on long-term investments for the one-time funds to improve County services and support our community! 34% of the funds were allocated to agencies within the County, 25% was allocated to the Sheriff’s Office, 17% to County Road & Bridges, 12% to County Parks, and 11% to other County operations. The use of the funds allocated across Clay County: 37% to Covid Response/Public Health; 33% to Infrastructure, 10% to Economic Recovery, and 21% to projects due to loss of revenue. • We’re excited to share that, thanks to the unanimous decision by our commissioners, Clay County offices will close early at noon on Tuesday, 12/24. This gives our employees extra time to spend with their loved ones during the holidays. You can still pay your taxes be either stopping in before, making a drop off at our boxes outside, or even online at https://claycountymo.tax/
