What a year it has been! Our region is ever growing and improving and this year was no different. Over the next week, we're highlighting some of our achievements in 2024. Look at just a small portion of what we accomplished together in our work to create and sustain a healthy environment for our region. The Regional Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection program held 11 mobile collection events serving 2,318 cars and collecting 132 tons of HHW for safe disposal. 70% of participants were new patrons! 1,600 people signed up for SkyCast, the daily ozone forecast for the Greater Kansas City region issued from March to October. Ploggers picked up more than 70 backs of trash across the region during Plogtober, our annual challenge to pick up litter while jogging in October. Thank you for partnering with us to find and implement solutions to the challenges our region faces.

Notice: Monthly Tornado Siren Test Rescheduled Due to the first Wednesday of January falling on New Year’s Day, the regular monthly tornado siren test for the Kansas City metro has been rescheduled. The test will now take place at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. This adjustment ensures the test does not interfere with holiday observances. Please remember, this is only a test, and no severe weather is expected during this time. Thank you for your understanding as we continue to prioritize safety and preparedness in our community. Stay safe, KC Metro!

At the close of the holiday season, give your natural trees, wreaths and greenery a second life by recycling them! Some trash services offer special curbside pickup, though they are not allowed in your regular trash service. Visit RecycleSpot.org and search "Holiday" to find a spot near you to recycle your trees and greenery.

⚠️Whether it's winter weather, severe heat, flooding or thunderstorms, our region's transportation system should be prepared for events like those. What are your thoughts on the region's transportation resiliency? We invite you to share your experiences by taking a survey and complete a mapping activity available through the end of January. https://lnkd.in/gExDjdGC
