CIC Japan Desk’s first Philadelphia-based program, Direct Flight Philadelphia powered by MEDISO, was a great success. We received a warm welcome from Philly’s vibrant cell and gene therapy ecosystem—non-profits, VCs, startups, researchers, local government, and service providers. Philadelphia has proven itself as a leader in life sciences, offering an innovative, collaborative, and accessible environment for international startups. Our Direct Flight Startups connected with local experts, gaining invaluable insights for US market expansion, and showcased their work at Venture Café Philadelphia, supported by the University City Science Center. This fall, CIC Connect partnered with the Seoul Business Agency to host a 12-week program for Korean healthcare, life sciences, and biotech startups expanding into the U.S. market. Here's a recap of what our startups experienced over the past few months: 💻 Virtual Learning & Mentorship: Over 10 weeks, the startups connected with industry experts, participated in mentorship sessions, and refined their strategies for U.S. expansion.  ✈️ On-Site in Cambridge: The final two weeks brought the startups to CIC Cambridge, where they had the opportunity to meet with potential partners, investors, and collaborators. 🎤 Demo Day at Venture Café: The program culminated in a dynamic Demo Day where each startup pitched their groundbreaking solutions in healthcare, life sciences, and biotech, showcasing the power of cross-border innovation. Congratulations to these inspiring entrepreneurs on the start of their U.S. journey!
