It is the final day of our 12 Days of Evidence and Learning campaign, and we are honored to be sharing an incredible video that highlights the Syria Education Programme (Manahel), implemented by Chemonics UK. Children in northwest Syria are growing up in one of the most difficult situations in the world, with over a decade of #conflict bringing instability, displacement, and poverty, and profoundly impacting children's #education. To help measure the connection between well-being and learning outcomes, Manahel has developed an innovative assessment approach to track how students' academic performance correlates with their socio-emotional well-being. #EvidenceAndLearning #DevelopmentWorksHere

💡🌎 #DidYouKnow? Colombia is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world with about 365 species of plants 🌱 , 150 species of mammals 🐆 , and 1,500 species of birds 🦜! In a captivating short #documentary created in partnership with Reuters’ Vision 2045 campaign, explore how local innovators are using an open-source software called SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) alongside the National Park Service in #Colombia to address biodiversity threats in the region. You’ll meet the incredible leaders who are harnessing this #innovative tech for #conservation and #stewardship. SMART has been scaled and adapted for other contexts, for instance, the technology was leveraged in collaboration with the #Philippines forestry service to help with conservation planning. 🌲 📽️ Watch a sneak peek in the trailer below and check out the documentary at this link: 🔗 https://ow.ly/Krbn50TVRPg

In Southern Africa, #ClimateChange is reshaping how rural communities live and work. The increasing severity of droughts, wildfires, floods, and heatwaves has made reliance on a single livelihood too risky for resource-dependent populations. Livelihood diversification has become essential in these conditions. Recognizing the urgency of this challenge, our latest climate risk assessment outlines 40 actionable adaptation strategies to strengthen livelihoods. These strategies were co-developed with our local partner Kavango Zambezi Transfrontier Conservation Area - KAZA TFCA, ensuring they are grounded in the lived realities and expertise of the nearly 3 million residents living within the world's largest transboundary #conservation area. Check out this blog and the full study on Climatelinks to learn how these approaches can empower large transboundary parks to: 🐘 Mitigate the incidents of human-wildlife conflict through water management 🔥Manage the threats of wildfire and extreme heat in the tourism industry 🛠 Empower herders and farmers with better forecasting tools 🗺️ Help establish zoning and land use designations based on flood futures 💰Access climate financing for longer-term programs 💬 We’d love to hear your thoughts on innovative approaches to climate adaptation. What strategies have you seen make a difference in similar contexts? Read on now: https://ow.ly/2TtM50UtAnM #ClimateAdaptation #Livelihoods #RuralDevelopment #SouthernAfrica #Resilience

Access to technology isn't just about being connected in a new digital age - it's about ensuring the next generation has all the tools they need to succeed. We're proud to support initiatives like this one through the USAID Democratic Governance East (DG East) Activity! Learn more below. 👏 💻
For more than 81,000 children from Donetsk oblast, distance learning is the only way to continue their education because of Russia's war against Ukraine. Until recently, only 75% of the oblast's educators had the tools needed to teach online. The USAID Democratic Governance East (DG East) Activity delivered 1,935 laptops so every teacher could remain connected with their students and provide the education they deserve. In this video, students from Donetsk oblast describe the challenges caused by Russia's war of aggression — as well as their determination to continue their education. #StandWithUkraine #RightToEducation #Ukraine USAID Chemonics International
