We like to say, that the Carlsberg Group is probably the most innovative brewer in the industry. Why? Unlike companies that solely innovate for short-term gains, our Research Laboratory works on long-term scientific breakthroughs that are bigger than beer. From inventing the pH scale in 1909, to winning a Nobel Prize for click chemistry in 2022, to creating technology to breed climate-tolerant crops for the future, the innovations coming out of the Carlsberg Research Laboratory won’t just change your beer, they might just change the world. Brewing for a better today and tomorrow
About us
This is the official LinkedIn channel of the Carlsberg Group. The Carlsberg Group was established in 1847 by brewer J.C. Jacobsen. J.C. Jacobsen was a true renaissance man. A believer in quality, research and serving the community, he shared his knowledge with fellow brewers. He looked to the future, prizing long-term growth over short-term gain. Today, Carlsberg Group is one of the leading brewery groups in the world, with a large portfolio of beer and other beverage brands. Our beer portfolio spans core beer brands, including local power brands and international premium brands, craft & speciality brands and alcohol-free brews. Our brands are enjoyed in more than 150 markets across Western Europe, Asia and Central & Eastern Europe, and we hold a number 1 or 2 position in more than 20 markets. We strive to brew better beers, today and tomorrow. Doing business responsibly and sustainably supports that purpose – and drives the efforts to deliver value for both our shareholders and the society. How do we bring good times and iconic brands to far corners of the world? Carlsberg’s journey of exporting beers dates back to the mid-1800s, when our visionary founder, J.C. Jacobsen, began shipping Carlsberg beer from Denmark to Great Britain, China, and India—and even entertained the idea of reaching Australia. Fast forward to 1954, and Great Britain had become Carlsberg’s largest export market. At the time, a ship laden with Carlsberg beer would make the journey across the North Sea every 12 days, keeping the supply flowing to our enthusiastic customers. Today, Carlsberg Export & License (CE&L) is a cornerstone of the Carlsberg Group. It holds a significant place in our history and continues to play a pivotal role in shaping our global presence. CE&L is responsible for managing our global brands and specialized export brands in markets where we do not operate our own breweries. This includes well-known Core brands like Tuborg and Carlsberg, as well as our Premium and Beyond Beer offerings, such as 1664 Blanc and Somersby. With a mission to expand our portfolio to new territories, CE&L has successfully introduced Carlsberg’s brands to 83 markets worldwide, collaborating with over 150 license and export partners. And yes, we eventually triumphed in Australia too, bringing multiple Carlsberg brands to this land down under—with a little help from Export & License. 🌏 📷: Bent Rej Photography #ExportandLicense

The national beer of Laos, Beerlao, is now enjoyed in over 16 countries, supported by 22 distributors worldwide! 🍻👏🏼 Key export markets include Vietnam, Thailand and China. Two new markets, Sweden and Canada, were opened in 2024, in Sweden with Carlsberg Sweden as its partner. This global footprint reflects the soaring popularity of Beerlao, which saw an impressive 90% growth in exports this year, compared to 2023. "This achievement is not just about numbers; it reflects our deep commitment to excellence and our passion for brewing. Seeing Beerlao enjoyed globally fills us with immense pride and joy," says Henrik Juel Andersen, Managing Director at Lao Brewery Company.
